    It's been a while since I've visited good ol Wu-Tang Corp but in the midst of all the bullshit in Hip Hop I need a haven so I'm glad to be back.

    I did a quick forum search for this topic and didnt find it posted. I'm aware this happened a few months ago.

    So I'm sure many of you may have heard about Kanye West comparing Souljah Boy to Nas, I'm desperate to know the opinions of my fellow Hip Hop heads. So please speak on it.

    Kanye West Defends Souljah Boy In Ice T Dispute, Compares Him To Nas.

    While Soulja Boy and Ice-T jab back and forth after T claimed Soulja single-handedly kiled hip-hop, Kanye West has come to the defense of the young rapper on his blog.


    "Soulja boy is fresh ass hell and is actually the true meaning of what hip hop is sposed to be. He came from the hood, made his own beats, made up a new saying, new sound and a new dance with one song. He had all of America rapping this summer. If that ain’t Hip Hop then what is? A bunch of wannabe keep it real rappers that ain’t even relevant, recycling samples trying to act like it’s 96 again and all they do is hate on new shit? Ni*gas always talk about the golden age but for a 13 year old kid, this is the golden age!!! That song was so dope cause everything he said had a hidden meaning… that’s Nas level sh*t… he just put it over some steel drums which is also some Nas sh*t if you had the 2nd album cassette with the bonus track “Silent Murder” on it. In closing… new niggas get ya money$$$$$$$$$$ Keep this sh*t fresh and original…. ain’t no fu*kin’ rules to this sh*t and that’s what real hip hop is to me."

    wasnt too long ago that KRS and Soulja boy came together on BET and did some Q and A.

    Its on youtube. we even had a thread here. let me see if I can find the link right quick.

    Lol the way Kanye describes him, he makes him sound like some sort of groundbreaking pioneer of hip hop but if you've ever heard that song then you'll definately disagree. It doesn't matter that it's something new if it's absolute shit. And btw Souljah Boy isn't really original, he just took it to a new level of crap.

    Yeah Souljah Boy is making money and having fun, and good luck to him, but he isn't a fuckin pioneer of hip hop lol - he's a pop artist. Just cause he is "rapping" doesn't mean his music is hip hop. And Kanye seems to think hip hop revolves around 13 year olds.

    It's nice to be around people who understand.

    When I read this it changed my perspective on Kanye alot. It sounds like his ego is blinding his perception on Hip Hop for real.

    and yeah kanye is coming out of his asshole as far as comparing him to nas and saying he's original. we've aleady seen souljah sambo in the form of D4L and lil jon.
