Ravens Sign TE Todd Heap to 6-year extension...

BALTIMORE (Ticker) - The Baltimore Ravens apparently were not scared off by two-time Pro Bowl tight end Todd Heap's bad ankle. On Tuesday, the Ravens announced Heap has agreed to a six-year extension.

Financial terms were not disclosed. The 31st pick in the 2001 draft, Heap made back-to-back Pro Bowl appearances in 2002 and 2003 but was limited to just six games last season because of a badly sprained right ankle suffered against the Pittsburgh Steelers on September 19.

Heap had just 27 catches for 303 yards and three touchdowns last season.

"Todd creates real matchup problems for defenses," Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome said. "With his size, he can overwhelm defensive backs and many linebackers. With his speed, he can run by the fastest players on the back end. This is another example of the commitment we have to signing our best players before they can become free agents."

Good job by Ravens suring up one of the best if not the best TE in the NFL. Especially while he was coming off an low so he could kill it this year at get his maximum money at the end of the season. Good front office thinking.

Kyle Boller has a nice ass arm. This stands a good chance to be his break out year. He wasn't horriable last year with no Heap for most of year NO WRS WHAT SO EVER and no Jamal or injured jamal for a lot of the season. Boller can throw the ball 60 yards standing on one knee. He did it his rookie year during training camp.

We need a good QB and 2 recievers. Heap signin is tical. But we can only rely on him so much and its annoyin man. Thats a good few seasons now without an attempt at it. TO would never have done good anyhow with us. Shits frustrating.

i think the qb will improve.....he was still a rook.......at the end of the seasion he was throwing a lot more...if he can do what he did at the end ...b-more could go all the way....couse....we got the running game...and if the throwing is on we are gonna score high points...we got d so we are all around good team...maybe...we will see

BBM became a Ravens fan coz they are a team for the people. We picked the name and everything. I got into the NFL serious in 1995 and being Scottish never had a reason to sport any1. So since Baltimore (a city my uncle says is similar to mine over here) were starting a franchise the following year I decided to sport em. Also the fact they just made beef with the browns who I couldnt stand for some mad reason helped it as well as my uncle living there.

So I sported the Ravens for 5 years before the superbowl success came along. Never thought the team be so successful straight away but cunts like Ray Lewis and Shannon Sharpe ensured the team went forward every year. I mind the score to this day, 34-7 we shagged the giants.

I put a vote in for the Ravens name through an email.
