fucking great album, i love how it's packed with so many different flavors, you'll hear influences from soul, jazz, Kraftwerk, bossa nova, African music and of course lots of hip-hop while Dilla manages to keep it together as a real album all the way through. it's quite experimental at times but Jay Dee was always about keeping it moving, trying out new shit and most of the times he really succeeded with whatever he's doing. i think this album really managed to capture the essence of his music as, in my opinion, one of the greatest and most creative producers hip-hop has yet to see.

we are introduced to some of what the Detroit scene has to offer on here and these guys showcases their style of rapping and doin it good, including one of the first apperances on wax ever from Elzhi who shined bright already here. Of course we got Frank-N-Dank, Phat Kat and Dilla himself who is actually alot doper on the mic than most critics paint him.

favorite joints include "Pause", "Beej-N-Dem", "Give it Up" and all that good shit.

I love the production on this. This is an album you can play without skipping any tracks. The last three beats are insane.

Top 5: Come Get It, Pause, Beej-N-Dem Part 2, The D (fav), Shake It Down

    Grade: (4/5) A-
