He's my 2nd favorite director of all time (which might seem kind of obvious from my avatar).

Basically, most Japanese films by any director will seem "slow" compared to Western (or even other Asian films). Since that's subtle style of Japanese film making. In stillness there is usually alot going on. I can honestly tell you none of his film have a fast pace (and I've seen nearly all of them).

^^U know what, i read some interview with TM where the interviewer asked him about a Kakihara movie, and Miike said he normally hates makin prequels BUT he does have some ideas for it and maybe he will make that movie one day. so i guess all we can do is pray to Buddha n hope theyll make it happen...

^^Daamn i wish i lived in Japan, some of his films are so hard to get over here, i only managed to see half of em..

and yea most japanese films dont let any dialogues tell the story...they let images tell the story. btw have u seen the movie "The Blessing Bell" by Hiroyuki "Sabu" Tanaka? the main actor of that film speaks his first sentences in the last 2 minutes of the film haha its awesome

Dang, thats good news. Asano Tadanobu is a boss and I never thought we'd see him as Kakihara again. Thanks for that info.

i luv visitor q, but honestly i wouldnt reccomend it to TM starters because its pretty slow and controversial, i would start with some of his "faster" more action based films like:

    fudoh
the city of lost souls (aka the hazard city)
    dead or alive
or his triad society trilogy (shinjuku killers, rainy dog, ley lines)

    ^^theyre all dope as hell
