its actualy for genesis/mega drive (sega) so you get an idea of how old that picture must be since there have been many generations of consoles since, and then even realise that the controler would be aqward and annoying to play with to say the least.
d-pad is a 'directional pad' its that cross looking thing on the left hand sind, both controlers still rock them, but only having the d-pad on the mega-drive and super nes (and playstation ( 1995 fuckin hell)) left you with a sore thumb after playing games like mortal kombat for 4 hours straight.
