    Default Watchmen Thread AKA Watchmen-- Who's Going To See It?

    The film adapatation of Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon's brilliant graphic novel; I've got to admit to some trepidation considering how other adaptation of his works have slaughtered them, but I'm hyped for this one...I've loved this novel (yes I'd call it a novel it has enough density and complexity to be compared to just about anything) since I was like 14 and have read it probably 10 times lol.

    ^ i heard that the original film was like over 3 hours long but was cut down to like 2 and a half so i bet a lot of detail is gonna be left out, which i hope isnt true...but hey more power to us that read the book

    I think it looks beautiful, but who knows how they're going to handle the story...the pirate comic is going to be a separate dvd.

    No squid/fake alien thing, Manhattan gets blamed instead. (apparently it's not even that he gets blmed, but that Veidt convinces him to blow up some cities around the world...which if thats the case, what did the Comedian find that lead him to be killed in the first place? Hmmm....) At least, that's the rumor.

    I love V for Vendetta simply because it's the most overtly anarchistic film of the last 20 years from a mainstream American studio, but goddamn they dumbed it down and slaughtered the graphic novel alot. The overall plot is rather close, but the details are different on so many crucial things, and subplots which help to describe the world and it's people are completely gone (the power hungry bitch who conspires to get her husband into power but never lets him get any, the cockney thugs who become cops, the detective who drops acid at the concentration camp, the rich slag who ends up as a showgirl, evey works for the news instead of being a prosititute...Alan Moore was right to be pissed and not want his name on it...but they still didn't fuck him over as much as he got fucked on From Hell or League of Extraordinary Gentlemen)


    There's a Watchmen video game? Blasphemy...Makes me think of this...

    ^^^looks wack (not a video game fan at all, except grand theft auto or need for speed hot pursuit...random mayhem shit) To me Watchmen is beyond that type of crass bullshit. But I guess, since it's a 'comic book movie' it has to have commercialistic tie ins, which goes to show this type of material is never given sufficient respect. Could you imagine a 'Taxi Driver' or 'There Will Be Blood' videogame? fuck no. (actual i could imagine a Taxi Driver video game, and it would probably be entertaining, so I guess I undermined my point)

    Watchmen got them superheroes and shit, let's dew a vidya gayme!

    I'm gonna be first in line to see this shit. The book was amazing. One of my favorite reads for sure. Hope they don't screw it up. So far what I've seen hasn't been too bad. Still sort of worried about the ending though.
