what about Miles Smiles? annnnd there is this one that my homeboy let me listen to I think its called "dark magus" or something like that. OMG that dark magus beats all of the miles recordings IMO

His work's been sampled in a lot of hip-hop.

Terrence Blanchard is my favorite right now. Also like David Axelrod, but he has a lot of different styles.

Coltrane's Giant Steps is a great album
What Memory Man mentioned is great too, and I'd like to add Miles' Blue Haze. Really nice chill melodies on that album.

So today when I was shopping I stopped by the Jazz section and picked up Bitches Brew and Mingus, Mingus, Mingus, Mingus, Mingus...good shit so far. What other Charles Mingus is required?

make sure u get Mingus, then u should probably get Mingus..although u could just DL that one...but my fav.. Mingus Ah Um.
