ya, it was dope, he's got some dope stuff, but he just gets massively overrated because he's dead...realistically he's in the o.c, lord finesse, cormega category, mcs that are technically great but just never made albums that were undisputed classics.

not a chance. i remember listening to big L and not even knowing he was dead and him just boggling my mind. az and cormega are good but i was never like "hooooly shit" listening to some az. az can actually get a little annoying to me as well.

i like mega, be he cant hold a candle to big L. really has got nothing to do with him being dead, imo anyways.

The More White Rappers that keep flooding underground hip-hop with their wack imitations and other shit, the wacker it will become.
Only a few years ago Hip Hop purists may have felt superior listening to hard core while their less enlightened companions snacked on commercial rap. As Shaolin research began to point out the overwhelming benefits of raw production, true hip hop enthusiasts started turning back to traditional styles. Wu-Tang in particular, has been shown to myriad beneficial effects, from warding off ignorance and poverty to reducing the risk of incarceration and death.

You don't have to actually like an artist to realize that they dropped some influential shit.
