Reasonable Doubt = Best Hiphop Album Ever

most honest album start to finish. you cant knock the hustle, but in order to survive gotta learn to live with regrets.
the beats are dope, the sampling is ridiculous especially for Can I Live.

the immediate album that it would be compared to is illmatic, but the overall production is dated. the lyrics are still phenomenal, but it doesnt balance out with the lyrics and production like RD does and Ive bumped Illmatic countless times. the lyricism on RD is far too underrated and just like Jay-Z said something like:
"if someone makes a better album than reasonable doubt, I'll retire."

RD will always hold a special place in my heart. what are yalls intake on this masterpiece

I like the album and one of the most rotated albums I have from 1996. Sadly there is a large population (on this board) that think its one of the most overrated classic debuts in that era.

IMO its a good album but i found it boring the 2nd and 3rd times i listened, i guess its just me, i dont really like jay-z to begin with i was listenin to this to try to get me into him, my fav song is bring it on tho, dead presidents, d'evils are dope too.

I'm sad to say that I missed out with this one. I was only about 14 when it dropped, and had very little income. I just used to buy whatever good cd's they got in at the second hand cd shop. No internet at my folks joint back in those days. I'd heard a couple of Jay Z tracks and really wanted the album but never saw it at an affordable price. Unfortunately (though I think fortunately in the long run) I wasn't one of those motherfuckers whose parents bought them shit for no good reason, so I missed out.

Anyway, didn't get it until a few years back, but of course by then it didn't have the same impact as it would have if I'd got it when it dropped. Also for this reason I never followed Jay's career. If they'd got Reasonable Doubt in at that second hand cd shop I might be a huge Jay Z fan. Who knows?

Anyway, nobody gives a fuck about any of that. To get to the point I think it's a great album, but unfortunately I'm not able to appreciate it to the fullest due to my history with it.

Jay-Z got close with his first 2 albums when it comes to making a classic.
But he always fucks himself by throwing some wack-ass tracks in it.

word....that's fucked up. I guess it's the OBFCL factor that these wu stans hold onto so dearly. cant forget doe or die, but RD is far better than both and I'm not being biased.

you stupid. in my lifetime was a near-classic, I'll give you that.

RD is a certified classic/masterpiece though. I'd be baffled if the 3rd option actually puts it away

As much as I love this album, I prefer "In My Lifetime." So, IMO, not the best album of all time.

How can it be inconsistant but be a classic? Being called a "classic" implies perfect or near perfection, flawless, being a totaly consistant album with little to no error.

SMH, too many dopes throw the term "classic" at albums they really should be calling dope or great. There are like 10 genuine classic albums in rap history.
