Default Bone Claws...I don't get it.

What on earth does that have to do with having a healing factor? someone please enlighten me.

its all related to him being a really feral character...wolf/dog/bear/wolverine like. The wounds from his claws comin out heal up.

As far as retcons go this is easily one of the most retarded. So because he is a "feral character" that somehow equals claws made of solid bone...hmm, you see, him getting the admantium claws as a side effect from the metal bonding made sense to me (as far as crazy comic fiction can be) but if it was just because he was feral, wouldn't Sabretooth have the same ability?

    Sabertooth's claws don't pierce his skin I don't think
They just rectract and extend like a cat.

But with Wolverine, I always thought in order to have the claws (and not bleed to death)
His hands need to heal because his skin is pierced.

No need to get defensive Dusk, people can think what they like, im just trying to spark a debate. Comics are always making retcons and I know that it's necessary to keep the stories up to date but imo I just think this particular one doesn't work.

What do the rest of the wolverine fans think?

it dont. i think they just wanted to incorporate wolvies claws into his mutant power set.kinda like spider-mans ability to shoot webs in the movies.

a mistake, in my opinion.i like the whole spec ops killing machine idea better. (for the origin of the claws)

i'm with you, tauro. i never liked the bone claws idea, or the name james. wolvies one of my all time favorites, but i'll never refer to him as james.

originally Wolverine was an evolved wolverine. like a real animal made into a man, claws and all. that was rewritten.

the bone claws are an artifact from that.

^^^^they never ran with the evolved wolverine idea though, and as someone who just read a bunch of old claremont x-men about two months ago, they obviously never intended for the claws to have been anything other than a bionic enhancement...i like it better that he had the claws though, i hate everything else about his new origin.

and yeah main_man, he's not james howlett, pussy boy from new england or whatever the hell, he's logan.

    actually they did.
in multiple issues there are references to his mutated animal status.
what they didn't run with was the bionic claw idea.

    agree^^

i mean damn... everyone is a kid a some point. right?
there had to be a time when he was just a frightened child dealing with being "different" like all the other x-men.
Logan, unlike the other x-men, found his strength on his own without the helpof the professor.
i'd like to see that evolution.
