Madvillainy is my all time favorite hip hop record, and quite possibly my favorite album period.
still gotta buy it on wax though.
can't forget Champion Sound and Donuts though.
Madlib's a beast and Dilla is one of the most soulful producers to do it.
Word.
Aquemini isnt even my favourite hip-hop album, but its one you NEED to hear.
As usual people are just putting in their favourite albums of all time, really i could die without listeneing to a lot of them, no matter how great they are. Really, as great as "Hell On Earth" is, if youve heard "The Infamous", you dont really need to hear "Hell On Earth" before you die, it isnt THAT different.
But "Aquemini" is mind-blowing, it trancends genres, most hip-hop artists make hot tracks, Outkast on this album make hot SONGS, theres a difference. "Liberation" is simply stunning.
"Fanastic Vol. 2"? Really? As much as i love Dilla and the whole Detroit scene, that album is VASTLY overrated by fans, and isnt that great at all, most critics agree too.
Da Lench Mob's "Guerillas In The Mist" album would also make my top 50. It's probably my 3rd favorite West Coast album of all time. "The Chronic" and "Doggystyle" being the top two.
Little Brother - The Listning
