Well in some areas alot of times its not about going around fighting people, most of the times you don't have a choice in the matter. If someone attacks you or threatens you or your possessions you really don't have a choice but to defend yourself and whats yours. Some things are worth fighting for.

I like that line, but you gotta understand what I mean by possessions. If you were to walk outside your house, and have someone walk up to you and try to stick his hands in your pockets and take your money (which you need to eat btw) your not going to sit there and let that occur.

Animals also attack when someone threatens their food. Try taking meat away from a wild animal and see if you escape with all of your limbs.
