How hard is it to learn to photoshop?

Is it difficult to learn? time consuming? Where do I start?

I learned all the basics myself and by basics I mean the typical tools used. Just keep messing with it, obviously your first work won't be spectacular, but the more you practice the greater the skill. Look up certain things, I.e blending. Speaking of photoshop I need to start messing with it again, my abilities may be a bit rusted.

it depends on what ya wanna do and how much your used to designing stuff on computer/paper.

the best thing to do is look at tutorials for photoshop and practice them skillz til death..

Thanks. I basically want to make a sig for now, eventually maybe some album covers. Thought it might be fun to do and possibly a valuable skill to learn.

thanks, i'll study all those links. maybe i'll have something to show in a few months.

In the meantime, if any of you veterans are bored, my future sig involves something like a ringwraith (lord of the rings), seated on a throne, all shrouded by mist and shadow. white pyramid, mountains in the background, channeling a white light/beam towards the sky.

youtube has some good tuts to start out with, i liked them cause it was easier than just sitting there reading a bunch of shit.

but like GFX said, it's very time consuming... and addictive... i'll start doing something cause im bored and 4 hours later my daughter is crying cause i haven't fed her lol

but time does fly and there is alot of tiral and error. i'm still learning. i am very displeased with everything i've done but its a constant learning process.
