in an interview gza once talked about his lyrics. he actually used this vert lyric as an example of how his shit has multiple meanings. he said one of the meanings to this line is a jeweler cutting diamonds

Actually you misquoted the Genius he says

"On a man made lake, theres a sheet of thin ice/ WHere unskilled skaters CUT FIGURE 8's TWICE/ Thats 16 uncut....."

He refering to the ice skating manuvoure of skating in a figure of 8 or an infinity symbol. If they do it twice then it should equal a 16 (2x8= 16) and then he refernces the 16 bars (of uncut or "raw" lyricism) hes dropping.

Basically unskilled or wack emcees just drop to half ass verses (2 8's) instead a full blow dope verse (a full 16 bars) or perhaps repeat themselves (8's twice) to full the verse.
