Default Canibus & Keith Murray - The UNDERGODS EP

From the second that the world found out that Canibus and Keith Murray were dropping a collaborative effort aptly titled “The Undergods”, the buzz was instant. And from the first dose being an ep to prep the heads around the globe, blogosphere and internet with what the music is gonna sound like.

So it wasn’t hard to ignore the first leak off the ep “129” and Bis and Murray are in rare form crushing the dope Erick Sermon backed track that is hard with strong drums kicks and boom bap snares. Then once you hit the next track “Show E’m What Crazy Is” featuring Kanasas City’s own Tech N9ne dropping heat rocks with Bis & Murray as they triple team the beat and unleash a lyrical fury that has been on a resurgence in hip hop over the last few years. For the most part the album slows down a little bit with “Gotta Be Real” that is perfectly paced to slow the adreinline pumping ep that claps allot of thunder.

As you delve into the 7 track ep you feel as it was a “No Brainer”, that the world “Stop Frontin” on hip hop’s lyrical lexicons and those same named tracks all showcase the best of what Bis & Murray can do. As some fans might wanted them to be all battle and scientific the ep is slice of reflection and introspection of what lyricist can truly do.

From the on set of this ep the heat doesn’t really stop and event the last two tracks “Rise of the Machine” and “Show and Prove” featuring Crooked I it isn’t hard to ignore why even mainstream newer artist respect the generals of lyricism because of they’re past, present and even future effort they put into they’re album. Overall this album is a solid 4 out of 5, only due to the fact that two of the guest shine hardbody with and along Bis and Murrays and the other reason is they should have just teased the fan base with this ep and just dropped a full length album, oh well see ya early 2010 with more undergods.

man i'm sorry drunk but i think ya wrong homes look at this n tell me this is boring

    (Canibus)
Come sit with me, I show you how I consistanly
manifest multiplicity, lyrically if you can do the same let me see
If you can then you are not my enemy
And if can not then I must make you a better emcee
Lets turn to page three we'll start there
The contract says you gotta have a thousand bars to spare
You think this type of Hip Hop is one dimensional but its not
You don't understand what I gave you, you don't understand what you got
    I know you well though
You think you can out rap me HELL NO
Unknown till I step to the microphone
Canibus turn this shit into a crisis zone
Automatically the sharpest at it, this just practice
Canibus/Keith Murray, I'm a shark he the savage
Satellite rappers delight we battle for the mic
In a condo bench pressing bags of brown rice
The modern day 'Hip Hop Hooray'
From Jacque Demolay spitting lyrics on top of the 808
They used to call me a mental case
But one day men will say he immigrated beyond Heaven's gate
My net worth is my next verse
In a race to a billion bars what if you could get there first
He had guns attached his guns where black
Stuck heads to thumb tacks placed on a wall sized map
This is not sorcery this is just a lyrical part of me
    My artistry please pardon me
So I can watch satellites comb over the Earth
I count thousands they probably just stole my verse
From the Flora to the Fauna, slaughtered in absence of water
Bis and Murray this is UnderGod horror

I agree with MaskedAvenger. Canibus's albums are shitty because of the beats but he's a ill mc. Keith hasn't made a good album since Enigma. So i might pass on this album.
