This thread will concern the new pro football league that just started this week called the UFL. It looks to provide some serious competition to the NFL.

In the first game, the Florida Tuskers defeated the New York Sentinels 35-13. The next game will feature the Florida Huskers taking on the Las Vegas Locomotives this Wednesday.

Only one game has been played so far. Nobody thought the NBA would compete with the ABA either.
the xfl had a better structure, better players, better tv contract, better publicity and only lasted 1 season
Well games are being played on the versus channel, so they are already on par with the NHL, as far as tv goes.
that's actually pretty funny. i think you are joking, but i will humor you anyways.
yes, the nhl is on versus, but once football season ends, the nhl will be on nbc on the weekends. not to mention, that the nhl is broadcast on tsn in canada, which is basically their version of espn. there is also hockey night in canada on cbc. on top of all of that, hockey games are also broadcasted locally in each teams market. the ufl only has 4 teams and i don't know if they broadcast locally.
Yeah, but didn't the NHL used to have a better tv deal in the US in years past? It obviously shows how popular ice hockey is in the US.
Obviously the UFL is going to be adding new teams..they have new teams lined up for next season. Even if it does fail, the United States Football league(USFL) looks to be coming back if all goes as planned.

yeah, the nhl used to be with espn and fox before the lockout. the other thing that hockey has going for it is that it's the best hockey league in the world. the ufl is at best 4th (behind the nfl, ncaa and cfl). so if you are going to watch football, why would you watch the ufl when there is so much better football being played right now.
another problem the ufl has right now is the fact that it is on versus during it's start up. right now directv is not carrying versus which a good chunk of america is not able to see this new upstart league.
I think more people have cable than satellite. Some games are also being played on the HD net channel, but I don't know much about that channel. Also, if you miss a game, games are being shown on their website: http://www.ufl-football.com/home. They had a real good crowd at the Florida/New York game Saturday, which was also the same day that the Florida Gators played.
So far the UFL has been an exhilarating, non stop action packed season. The highest ratings ever seen on the Versus channel. The Florida Tuskers have clinched a spot to play in the upcoming championship game against a team to be determined.
your consistency in jocking nobodies is starting to become lame.

All sports are given a chance and that's how it should be. Should this section only have three threads in it, NBA basketball, NFL football, and soccer? Should every sports fan only like the 'more well known' teams? smh
