what better title than "beyond entertainment" ... i cant stand a euro square who wants to tell me hip hop is merely entertainment ... fuck outta here with all that nonsense
Nice vid.
One person told me many years ago that America's has clay feet for a foundation. The clay feet is a reference to a vision in the book of Daniels.
Anyway, people put their faith in this statue with clay feet, and naturally, they lose their faith when this statue starts to crumble.
chill yall
I find KRS ones views on politics fringe psychotic and incredibly ignorant.
which is fine cause most normal people are like that kinda, but he's a normal person trying to act as a social sage or guru and its often annoying and stupid.
they're over analyising hip hop, it's entertainment and its a way to have fun and express yourself, all this nerd shit they're trying to do isn't hip hop, im sorry.
as much as hip hop ain't on TV hip hop aint in a class room with an eccentric guy who spent his rap career talking about guns and everything else his contemporaries were obsessed with with a string of hits that because he had a string of hits (less then 50 cent though) he thinks he's the pioneer of rap.
cut the nerd shit.
Is this a documentary Sunny Winters? Can i buy it online on dvd?
nah - it's not a documentary
it's a class taught by KRS, on youtube
It is entertainment, without doubt, but it's also inarguable that certain songs, at the very least, have (or at least were intended to have) a greater purpose. You can "learn" from music the same way that you can "learn" from books or people or experience. So while I agree with you in two senses:
1) KRS can be a bit of a nut.
2) A lot of shit is way the fuck overanalyzed these days and we don't really need hip hop to be a part of that.
I think you should recognize that there is some merit to looking a little deeper into at least some of what we pump into our ears on a daily basis.
Actually, the loudest one on this forum about rap being merely entertainment is an African currently living in middle America. We Euro squares are douchy in a different way.
EDIT: Since the thread has to be near-classic to convince me to read it further than first few posts, I didn't notice that my point has been proven even before I posted here.
