just received this yesterday and played it through now and i gotta say this was a dope album, especially the production was better than i expected. hard boom bap beats from Da Beatminerz, Ghetto Pro's, Choco, Kenny Parker and DJ Revolution and although i do know that KRS-One didn't approve this release it is sounding official for the most part. the only strange thing about it really is that there was a couple of guests on here that wasn't credited at all and i think that one song didn't feature no lyrics at all by Kris (the one with Tekitha) although he was doing backing vocals and ad-libs. gonna let it sink in before i throw on a rating, but about 3.75/5

You just now hearing this album? I thought you had this already. It's a pretty good album. I got the bootleg of this also and it has a couple of songs that aren't on the retail album. Jam Master Jay tribute he did is on the bootleg and it's pretty good. He samples Run DMC saying JMJ's name and he samples a few of his old songs on the track. I was impressed with that puerto rican rapper Peedo on the song How Bad Do You Want It. He got skills. KRS did a mixtape with him called Peedo And The Luna Empire. I didn't like it because of the beats but Peedo can rhyme good. My favorite songs on here are Ya Feel Dat(i noticed you didn't post this song on the tracklisting because the retail album i got has this song), Somebody, What Else Happened(i don't know why this is called Whatever Happened), Underground, Gunnen Em Down, Alright With Me. Kristyles is his last good album. The rest of his albums after KRS One album that came out in 1995 suck because of bad beats but KRS's lyrics are still good.

i got the retail album and it doesn't feature "Ya Feel Dat" but i noticed Amazon had it on their tracklist, and no i just bought the album a few days back. i gotta check for that bootleg though, you got a download link for it??

imo KRS-One made 6 good albums as a solo artist; "Return of the Boom Bap", "KRS-One", "I Got Next", "Kristyles", "Hip-Hop Lives" and "Survival Skills", on the other albums i've heard he had poor beat selection.

I don't have a download link for the bootleg. A friend of mine burned it for me. I didn't know there was a bootleg until my friend told me. But then again i figured there might be 2 versions of the album because the version KRS wanted released, Koch records didn't wanna release it and he was upset about that. That's probably why he left Koch after that album. I didn't like I Got Next and Hip Hop Lives. I'm gonna have to listen to Hip Hop Lives again because the copy i had, the audio sounded terrible. For some reason the cd's that my friend burns for me, the audio quality is terrible. I'm gonna have to buy it from the record store. I wouldn't say Survival Skills is a solo album of his since he collaborated with Buckshot. But he hasn't been choosing good beats since after self titled album in 1995.

Step Into A World song is the best song on I Got Next because the beat is so hard. The rest of the songs on there are mediocore and garbage. He has a few good beats on The Sneak Attack album and if the rest of the beats would've been good, that would've been a good album. I was also disappointed that the songs on there were too short. Have you heard his Prophets Vs. Profits mixtape? He has 2 songs on there dissing Nelly which i'm sure you've heard called Ova Here and You Don't Really Want It but the rest of the mixtape is wack. He has a song on there called My People which is good.
