yeah m8, look at my cd collection, its nice, im proud of it. i know more artists then whats on my list, thems just the cd's ive bought so far, cos once i start on an artists, e.g. redman - i get a album at first n then one or two the next time i buy until i have all they albums, so it aint quick for m to build up my collection. i dont give a shit if i dont got old school albums, i never said i knew about old school. im jus saying i have a, ok i wont use the word great, but substantial knowledge of hip-hop. i know how it started, who started it, and how it came to be what it is. see so you don't NEED the albums to have knowledge, i just read a bit here and there on my fav and only genre of music i listen too!!.Originally Posted by PuNcH_iN_PuNcH_OuT
so now do you see, i weren't being arrogant, or big headed im jus tyrna prove im not a newbie, like, "uhh....who's underground hip-hop" i know several underground artists, not sayin i know tons cos i dont but im not totally fuckin oblivious to it all. know you see why???? im not tryna get at anyone.
That's real Hip Hop right here ... Peace famOriginally Posted by ZiG 9th

If you want some sound advice get the first two Tribe Called Quest and Eric B. & Rakim and all the other classics you don't have. Then you will be able to combine what you learn from the history and listening to the actual music it talks about. Ya gotta move past the mainstream to gain this "substantial knowledge" you talking about. It would be like learning all about the history, culture and language of Italy but never actually visiting there. That would be sad.
1. Liquid Swords, Wu-Tang Forever, 36 Chambers, Heavy Mental, Heist of Century
2. Doggystyle - Snoop
