I understand some people hate Cage, I really like all his work and in this video hopefully try to convey why, so please don't be too harsh!!

8mm and FaceOff are my favorites. The last one i saw was The Trust in 2016 and it was entertaining because Nicholas Cage can play the kind of deranged person to commit crimes like that.

All his movies get shit ratings on IMDB.

I haven't watched many of his movies since the '90s but I look at his catalog and he has an average of 4-5 movies he's dropped every year.

I'm wondering if there aren't some slept on classics buried in this list that IMDB faggot critics gave undeserved low ratings to: https://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000115/?ref_=tt_cl_t1

I remember Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans was so bad it was funny and entertaining.

It had Val Kilmer and Nicholas Cage staring out windows with lizards around looking like they both just dropped acid.

The last movie I watched of his was Mandy. It's a violent movie but there is a lot of other good aspects of the film. I would recommend it on the cinematography alone.

Some of his late career choices were connected to his financial demise. Basically if the pay is good he'll do any movie. That also goes a long way in explaining why he's in so many movies these days.

I too enjoyed Bad Lieutenant : Port of Call New Orleans, but I enjoyed it as a 'straight' movie. It's one of the last good Nick Cage movies I recall. Val Kilmer is another example of a good actor who sometimes phones in performances and is not picky with movies.

Kilmer's supposed to take up his part again in the Top Gun reboot, right?

    I don't know.

But I do recall that val Kilmer was suffering lots of health problems that interrupted his acting career.

i dont understand the nic cage hate.

even in the movies that are viewed as "bad" or what not. Nic still shines and kills his roles.

i think he is a great actor. and would even confidently say one of the best/top actors that i have had the privilege of growing up watching/still watching to this day.

would love to get my hands on Vampire's Kiss for my collection.

Mandy was good and i am interested in watching Color Out of Space which is another recent one.

as for Bad Lieutenant. Werner Herzog is a very solid director and i thought the film was a good one, not great, but enjoyable. Nic Cage once again killed his role of a corrupt, crack smoking detective, in a serious yet hilarious fashion that really only Nic Cage could capture.

the only other actor i can think of that is as smoothly flamboyant as him, would be a young Jim Carrey, but young Jim Carrey lacked the balance between his forms, comedic and serious/realistic/relatable. Nic Cage has mastered them. imo.

i was a big fan of Jim Carrey in The Number 23 and even loved his role in Dark Crimes but the flare that Nic Cage can bring to any role he does, if needed, is not something Jim Carrey, and damn near any other actor, could translate to other roles without seeming... forced.

Leonardo DiCaprio can do it, and does it magnificently. as he is another great actor. but that is about as far as that list goes.

    sick collection though bruv

I think many consider Leaving Las Vegas a quality film. I don't think Nic Cage is a bad actor, but I dont think he made a convincing drunk. Maybe its was the directors fault though. Jim Lahey on TPB was the best to do it imo.
