Default How does the Bible have Jesus qoutes......

...when it was written 200 years after he died, by people who never met him?

Where were they getting all these "teachings of Jesus"??

Was someone following Jesus around his whole life noting down everything he said? Then 200 years later they used these notes?

But there was no records of Jesus, we can barely prove he even existed, all evidence is sketchy and heresay at best, so how were they getting all his teachings and exact qoutes?

    'Rooka?

The bible text where written shortly after Jesus died son....and the bible was later on compiled from the manuscripts they had...Also the church believes as Jesus said that it was the holy spirit who brought everything Jesus said to there rememberance and or inspired them to write what they wrote.

I have often wondered how the bible writers knew what happend to Jesus when in some instantces he was by himself ...like after he was arrested and faced the authorites or when he was talking to the samarian women by himself or praying by himself in the garden before his arrest .... But I asked the priest this question and he told me that you need faith and to believe that the holy spirit revealed these things to the gospel writers.

    read carefully

17Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Christ.

    The Birth of Jesus Christ

18This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit.

19Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

20But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

21She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus,[c] because he will save his people from their sins."

What has the Bible done or said for anyone to give it credibilty for us to take it as seriously as that, that we will blindly believe everything it says simply because it tells us too. If anyone or anything else asked you'd tell them where to go.

I might've given something like the Bible more credibilty and trust to believe everything it says if it had of given a scientifically/historically/geolically accurate description of how the Earth was created, instead of trying to say the whole thing sprang up in 6 days.

If we were to look back today, and see that the Bible was ahead of its time in things like this, then maybe we could trust it was "word of god". But the fact is, its not It reads as scientifically accurate as the people of the day were - i.e not very (well actually a lot of ancients were much more advanced than current civilisation but thats another story, but evidently not christians).

So what im saying is, if the Bible expects people to just have faith in what its saying - its gotta have shit to back it up. But modern science has made everything in the Bible seem like dumb superstition. ANd its been used since its conception as a means to control people.

Talking about the new testement ....The apostles wrote the bible guided by the holy spirit, but the gosples (mathew , mark , luke and john) are God`s words directly given by Jesus, the other parts of the new testement are all divinly inspired writtings mixed in with personal knowledge about situations on how a christian should live and messages to the early churches...as for revelations the apostle John wrote that book while in prison and what is written in revelations comes from God in a dream he gave to John, who then wrote down what he saw and heard.

Well, according to official Catholic teaching:

    1) Gospel of Matthew was written by apostle Matthew (who knew Jesus personally), cca. 60 AD

    2) Gospel of Mark was written by John Mark, who was among first Christians in Jerusalem and heard the story by apostles, who were leading the Jerusalem church. It was written cca. 70 AD

    3) Gospel of Luke was written by Luke, St. Paul's cousin, cca. 70 AD. Luke openly admitted he wasn't an eyewitness, but his approach was influenced by Greek historiography and he actually tried to follow some scientific waypoints during his research.

    4) Gospel of John was written by John the Apostle (knew Jesus personally too), cca. 90 AD.

Now, it's known for sure that none of the gospels is written that late (200 AD), and the dates provided by Church sound reasonable to me, 'cause they were all written less than a half of century after Jesus' death and by people who had some contact either with him or the apostles. As for Jesus birth and solitary events described in Gospels, possibly Jesus was telling them to Apostles. I can picture the guy sitting around a fireplace and telling his own life story to his twelve friends while eating deates and smoking weed.
"The Devil is not the Prince of Matter; the Devil is the arrogance of the spirit, faith without smile, truth that is never seized by doubt. The Devil is grim because he knows where he is going, and, in moving, he always returns whence he came."

Lacey - the bible didn't tell him to "Just Believe" -

    the priest did -

in the bible - God says to "seek My Face"

AND - In all things, seek understanding

it's a good book that is misinterpreted by people who don't read it but believe what's written in it -

funny - cause the bible isn't about Christians - it's directly about a small group of people and their moves throughout the planet - the empires that rose to power and fell, and instructions for these people to carry out in order for them to stay connected to their god -

the prophets are men who came from this specific family - so called jesus is one of them - jesus is one of them, because of his fathers blood connection to them

the bible does not and can not expect anyone to "just believe it"

priest who need to stay paid will tell you to "Just believe it"

cause he knows that if the congregation was to really study and seek understanding concerning the bible, he would not be able to scare them the way he does - and this is not directed directly at the priest prof zooruka talked to, it's directed to all the priest that i talked to

though idk if it word for word jesus' sayings, i personally think it was written by ppl who knew him as the other guy said. there are incidences when 1 even has 2 different descriptions, so im sure things are off here and there but the general message is intact through out, except in revolations where things get out of control.

Some guys compiled a book based on the notes of some guys- that knew a guy- that could do some things that a lot of people not in the know- wanted to know. Problem is they lost the message by writing that book. What the exact motivations were for writitng it, I don't know, but I do know it was written by people. It's another book written by people. Jenna Jameson wrote a book too, she gives excellent tips on how you can become a porn star.
