LOL too late, I downloaded it last night, I haven't listened to it yet though.
Only a few years ago Hip Hop purists may have felt superior listening to hard core while their less enlightened companions snacked on commercial rap. As Shaolin research began to point out the overwhelming benefits of raw production, true hip hop enthusiasts started turning back to traditional styles. Wu-Tang in particular, has been shown to myriad beneficial effects, from warding off ignorance and poverty to reducing the risk of incarceration and death.

Warcloud drops jewels too. But he's not boring with it. He's drops jewels in many different realms, not just bible studies (thats how you really reach the people), and touches on so many different subjects you will have to go away and do some research, which is educating yourself anyway. And with flashes of brilliance, he has shown he can do the bible thing also. Warcloud dont give a fuck about the betterment of you anyway.

Warclouds the essence of WU....witty and unpredictable.....he sometimes puts words together in a sentence totally unique to whats gone before in hip hop/rap.

He has proven to me to be better than all of them, even the god rzarec, who at one stage in my life I would put no-one above.

The poll actually should be between RZA and Warcloud.

BTW....Killah Priest could never dream to spit a verse like Holocaust in Howling wolves....tell me pound for pound what Killah Priest verse could match that?

If I was stuck on a desert island, I would rather have a Warcloud album (a couple thousand mental pictures) than a Killah Priest album (a hundred)
Honestly, "Heavy Mental" (Verse) I don't think Warcloud can touch that. Nothing I've heard him spit can touch that verse by Priest. Not trying to be an ass but can you give me tracks where Warcloud drops knowledge cause I haven't heard them from the material I was given but I would like to. Your right about one thing, Priest can be boring dropping knowledge at times, but overall he comes through with his battle raps. And about Rza, I haven't heard a Warcloud verse that can go pound for pound with "Dangerouz Mindz" IMO. I think Warcloud's hottest verse is the second verse on "One Standard Lesson" and that's pretty good.

what material from Holocaust have you heard Hollow Darts?

Your right about Priest droppin more knowledge than Holo line for line in most of Priests songs where he does so. Holocaust sprinkles knowledge sporatically through out his songs and mixes it with the most vivid imagry and descriptive launguage, your likely to hear.

    I've heard:

Verses from the Black Knights Album
Verses from The Killa Beez Swarm/Sting albums
Verses from That recent Northstar album
    The Last Hovering Castle
Midnight In the garden of good
    Silkworm verse
    Old Toy Room
One Standard Lesson (This is the best track I've heard from this guy hands down IMO)
Raw Head Spear Howling Wolves/Royal Rumble
    Stay Wit It (Wack)
    Sweeping Bullet Shells
    Wake Up Show Freestyles
    Wretcheds of the Earth

That's all I can think of right now.

I have given it much thought...

Holocaust is my personal preference and I honestly belive that as an all round Emcee
Himself and Priest are the 2 most versatile ones I've heard
When we explore this field, I belive Holocaust edges it
His range is completly untouchable, but...
If I were to choose someone to match the stature, it would be Priest
Come to think of it Eminem is a good call as well, anyway...
I used to say Killah Priest was the most versatile I'd heard, called him Nas's grandad
He's the best ect...he became my favourite after I heard Black August.
And I know I've said it many times before but, it's another Professional VS Virtuoso.
I think we all know who's who, just depends on which you prefer.

But once I clocked that Warcloud actually was Holocaust, I really diddn't belive it.
Then noticing his "Architect" style I knew he was on some next shit.
    And more recently :
"The Robot Tank" & "The Sign Of Hells Winter"
I remember when I saw him drop those 2 acapella freestyles
    I noticed he said :

"An Instrument Of Emcees...Land Mass Destruction Destructing The Cowards
Disapear From The Radar Screen For Hours My Mind Is An Atomic Power"

I was intrigued by that statement
If he planned to become different Emcees so to speak from the beginning...
Then thats deep, if not then still, seriously ?
And then this on "Architecture Of Disaster" :

"I Try To Think Hard About Every Rhyme That I Do...Check Out My Crew"

I think he's talking about himself.
Jubei makes a good point when he said RZA would be a more fitting adversary
In that respect, as RZA raps differently under different personas
With style & content, yet lacking the ability to switch his voice so easily.
Before we begin, here's how I see his styles :

    The Architect

    "Bauer Broke Knees
Authority Of The Jars, That Crush The Plants And Blow Trees
Vivid Fluorescent Soaked Leaves, Eloquent Neon Smoke Screens
Deciduous Anonymous Columnist, How I Wrote These"

You said yourself that you think his hottest verse is with this style and on this track.
So it's a good place to begin...
"One Standard Lesson/Dark City Chooser/Rollercoaster Tycoon" the 2nd verse.
As a matter of fact, I belive his greatest ever track is also in this style :
"Midnight In The Garden Of Good" which to me is better than anything Priest has done.
And that was a long time ago, I heard that track at school !!!!
I'm not 100% as to whether or not this style came before "Holocaust(Silkworm)"
Which just shows how deep he was way back then as he was 17 on his debut ?!?!
But I see this style as the foundation, to where he begins his journey
Not just because of it's title but he just owns the beat.
The content is more higher yet he spits it viciously yet differently
To how he did leaving it in tatters during the Silkworm era.
And unlike his twisted imagery of Warcloud, here he reminds me of an ancient poet
He was beyond arrogant in this style to me, like he's just toying with the beat
But actually very aggressive at the same time. He sounded like the creator of all this
As if he'd been studying lyricism all his life even though he was so young...
    He'd already mastered it.

    Holocaust

"While, I'm Sippin' Herbal Teas, Verbal Bees Plant Fertile Seeds
Bitches Leave With Broke Backs, Swollen Palms & Purple Knees
Circle Thieves Like Vultures In Deserts Rest On A Cactus
Got Oscar Nominee Emcees Stuck To My Hatchet
Drastic, Indescribable Pain, I Injure Bars
While, Bobby's Throwin Razor CD's Like Ninja Stars"

I don't really need to say much about this style
This verse is widely acknowledged as one of the greatest ever, as it should be.
And is clearly the majority vote of his favoured styles.
It's like he was possessed and was just there to leave the beat in tatters
Which he did every time he dropped a verse in this style
Unlike all the others in my opinion...
What I mean by that is that anyone can appreciate this style.
I remember even my Mum was like : "who's this guy ? he's very clever"
It's interesting the verse Ghostface drops on this as well
As it's of the same mould and somewhat a sign of what was about to follow...
You can hear glimpses of this during the first 2 stages.

    Warcloud

"Flick My Cigarette In The Dirt After I Curse
Stagger Through The Street's The Worse From The Hearse
3 Revolvers, A Strike Down At The Steel Mill
Soon Comes Today Spread Out Because I Will Kill
Paint The Cupboard Red, My Thoughts From Above The Sky
Follow The Shadow Of A Butterfly While Others Die
Grandfather Song Skip To My Loo
The Oil Station Man, Sick Like The Flu
Guns Are His Favourite, Meet Skeleton Lowe
Wind In The Trees, Emcees Corrode
    The Diabolical Warcloud Strikes Again
Once Known As Holocaust Who Slaughtered Men"

    And so the darkness comes...
This is where it gets much harder to follow
I don't know how or why, but the Holocaust we all knew
Was hit by a meteorite and is now to be adressed as Warcloud.
And what emerges from the wreckage...
Is pretty much as far away as possible you can get from this previous style.
His voice is more erie, his content is something straight out of a ghost story
Much calmer and focusing on the imagery he's laying down rather than
Fall in formation like before, all chained up, unable to fully express himself, he was 17.
Understandable, anyway, this is where a large part of his body of work rests
And this style has a much more musical feel to before
RZA is beyond bait for not realesing a Silkworm Album, obviously
But honestly, I don't think it would have been anywhere near as venturous
As what Warcloud offers, it would have just been him slaying RZA beats
    I know...I know.
Where as now there are layers of riddles and refferences wrapped in visible darkness
Like he can drop some nasty lines still but is now much more comical-
Care free, the complete flipside, maybe he wanted to prove something to himself ?
Maybe he wanted to show what he was capable of, or just see where he could wander
He was rhyming like GZA to an extent as Holocaust :
Clockwork flow, owning beats as a master caftsman, never dropping a weak verse
And bound within the laws of boundries A proffesional will stick to the skript...
A Virtuoso will say rules are made to be broken, lines are made to be crossed
And boundries are made to be keep you trapped...
He simply broke free when he ventured into the abyss.
If you don't wanna follow, I understand.

    Alcatraz

"My Raps Shot At Helmets, Heavy Swords, Hammers & Axes
In the Hall of the Warrior King, The Slaughters Crafted
Orange Peel, Teal Never Squeal, Solo Logo Brawl
Mics Seals, Say That Of All Veal In The Poor
From The Decency He Had The River Tree Escaped Tilt Like A Centipede
Like I'm Running For Commissioner, Joker Hostility"

"At Last You Crash Like The Colossus Of Rhodes
Jump Away Like Toad, Tired Of Being Harassed By Your Stupid Parents
Bionic Bomb Shelters Subatomic Incoherent Lyrics To A Cometh
It Took A Day To Rreach The Summit-
The High Cost Of Living Turkey F–A-N-G-S Giving
I Bring Lightening I'm King Pisces, Of The Ocean Just Swimming
And Never Go The Extra Inning, Friend I'm The Pride Of Beside
Henry Jekyll Much Obliged To Hide Mr. Edward Hyde
The Good Witches Ride, A Frankenstein Can't Help To Rhyme
I Spark And Laugh In The Dark, A Boss The Holocaust
Gone To Concrete Island Of Alcatraz, 2 About To Blast
Man Listen, I'll Swallow A Gun And Go To San Quentin"

Oh dear, it just got a whole lot more blurry.
I've always seen Alcatraz as the sickest style of his
He's beyond twisted here, like the Mr. Hyde of Warcloud, yeah.
I mentioned Mr. Hyde because this style islike a branch off of Warcloud
Like an alter ego, thats how I've always seen it.
Although sometimes he is a real comedian, completly off his rocker
Where as others he completly blacks out and is incredible.
Out of all the styles I possibly dislike this one the most.
Not to say I don't feel it, it's just so free and unpredictable I can't put my finger on it
As if having different persona's wasn't enough, even his persona's have personas.
Thats why I put more than one track up to magnify this.
But yeah this is unwell material.

    The Holocaust

"When An Emcee Disappeared By The Beach People Feared, I'm Stable To Collide
You And Your Crew Were Tricked Into Sitting On A Magic Bench From Which,
They Were Unable To Rise, A Misfortune Followed His Family Because 3 Years Later
They Became Disabled And Died, I'm A Tyrant Far & Hazardous Are
An Emcee Wrestles With Violence, His Alter Egos Levelled In A Riot
On His Way To The War He Was Bitten By A Snake
Because The Smell Of His Wound And His Cries Made Him Offensive
His Companions Left Him On A Desolate Island..."

    And the time has come...
Finally, a solo album, with the best beats availiable in my opinion
Blue Sky Black Death made something that I will forever treasure
As I diddn't think I'd ever get a full solo album from him as RZA Vaults are locked.
But what he brings to the table is unreal, really unbelivable.
You say Priest paints pictures Which he no doubt does
But Holo is like a machine gun camera, is imagery on this album is silly.
The atmosphere he brings on the slower tracks on the album are just chilling
But I think he's trying to tell you something on "God Be With You"
I think I'm right, but I wanna see if you can see it from the same perspective.

    The Robot Tank

"I Fight In Medieval England With A Chainsaw Spilling Your Life...
A Man Sees Himself On Television Killing His Wife
An Ageing Magician Drafts Bruce Banner As An Assistant
More Than 2 Thousand Civil War Battles Take place west Of A Village
20 People Hang Or Are Tortured To Death For The Craft Of Witches
A Chinese Peasant Finds A Coin In A Land Of Riches
A Man Walks Through Fire The Falling Can’t Fly, You Desire Harm
Your Work Is Slipping, Leonardo Da Vinci...Developed...An Aarly...Firearm"

By now he's grown and wandered down many paths...
Think of a vast holder of knowledge that has been injured and can't tell you straight
Or better yet, a Robot that has acumilated a huge amount of data
And is telling stories of the past and speaks to humans in riddles.
His voice is lifeless and the complexity of his rhymes
Are even greater than on the Blue Sky Black Death album I think.
This is probably my favourite style of his.

    The Sign Of Hells Winter

"There Is A Man Who Controls Weather Clever In The Sun
He'll Come Alone Till Loosed And Forever, In The Time I Die...
I Will Keep Open My Eyes, This Evening To Embezzle The Desert
You'll Be Found Dead In A Playground An Indian Grave Found
Where All His Loyal Braves Make Sound"

    are you serious ?!?!?!
Thats your name, forget about it son.
Ok I'll be honest, I think this is his most experimentative endeavour yet
And if this is a leak for an upcoming -The Sign Of Hells Winter/Warghost Solo-
I think it will stane the Blue Sky Black Death album.
Sadly, I've only got this track to go on, but it's as if he's blended himself with the beat
However, not what your immediate thought would be
He's not flowing with it, he's smothering it.
But it works, it's not as ridiculous as Mika 9 or as forced as Bone Thugz or Twista
    It's just so different, effortless...
And incredible in my opinion that this is all from one mind.

You say that Priest drops jewels on every verse...
    ...And Holocaust doesn't ?

"Colonize The Treasure, A Yard 36 Inches Measured
Do Not Believe Everything You See In The Desert
Hawaiian Volcano Goddess Creates Havoc For The Bludgeon
Many Once Hated The Man Who Is Now Perhaps Our Most Beloved"

The quotes alone I put up are littered with jewels
I am constantly clocking new things within his verses even years later
Something will just pop into your head every now and then
Like you'll finally realize what he meant by that
Or finding some hidden message within a section of his verse ect...
I can safely say he is, in my opinion the best, and if you don't agree with that
Then he's the sickest, if you can't grasp someone who is so abstact within their realm
Compared to those who have engraved their name into stone and are widely recognized
As the high class professionals who tick all the right boxes for the masses
Then fair enough, another way of putting it :
When comparing painters, Salvador Dali shits all over everyone in my opinion
Although I can still appreciate the drawings of Raphael or a Da Vinci masterpiece
I just don't feel it as much as what Dali can do with a canvas & a brush
The same way Holocaust does with a pen & a mic.

    It's a very interesting debate
Just imagine for a minute if Holocaust still rapped like he did on "In Stereo"
And never adopted the names and styles, think how differently you'd rate him
Canibus gets mentioned quite a bit (and I think MF DOOM is similar at times)
His lyrics are serious, but and no fault goes for this, he sounds the same on every track
Same as GZA, thats not a problem, only you can't expect certain gifted individuals
To follow suit, and due to them not doing so, the majority are gonna struggle.
I'm not at all suprised at the poll standings There's no question that Priest is undoubtably
One of the greatest ever, as I stated these 2 are my top 2.
Anything you wanna bring to this is welcome Hollow, verses ect...
Perhaps you could do a similar thing with Priest as I know you like a review
There lies the difference though, Priest would be done with his albums I feel.
In closing I must say your not aware of how much joke I catch off Holo though
    He cracks me up sometimes.

    Great thread.

    Great post man.

btw what song is this from? Sounds familiar but I cant place it:

"Colonize The Treasure, A Yard 36 Inches Measured
Do Not Believe Everything You See In The Desert
Hawaiian Volcano Goddess Creates Havoc For The Bludgeon
Many Once Hated The Man Who Is Now Perhaps Our Most Beloved"
