He needs to make that shit happen and stop getting beats from these wack producers he's been dealing with. I wonder what happened to the album he was gonna do with only beats from DJ Premier. I would like to see that come out.
illmatic was an accidental classic. nas had so many dope rhymes he was spitting in the park that I doubt he knew illmatic was gonna be that good.

album's classic, I wish there was more albums like this one, only 10 tracks but every one of them is perfect.

Hip Hop's pound for pound greatest of all time. Sadly, it will never be duplicated.

For all you people saying "it was 2 short!!!!", would you rather have a heavily bloated album padded with filler just so you save money? Or would you rather have nine tracks of pure raw brilliance that leaves you feeling fulfilled afterward? I know what I'd take.

Album is good but I think that "Stillmatic" and "It Was Writter" are much better. Illmatic - 7/10

I personally give it a 10. I can accept it being rated as a 9 as there are some flaws, but only in the production! Nas's skill on the mic will never happen again, his rhymes are perfect and you can't find one screw up at all in any of his verses. The world is yours instrumental is legendary already along with Represent. Only track I was not feeling was (call me crazy) NY state of mind. That's it, all other songs are flawless. 9 classics packed into 39 minutes.

When you haven't listened to illmatic for 2 months you are unable to play it just once.

10/10 out of respect. Not a personal favorite though. 4,5,6 by Kool G Rap is what I call "Illmatic"

Nothing short of perfection. Every song is visual and puts you there. And that's why Memory Lane (Sittin In The Park) is my favorite song on here. Everything about it, from the beat, voice sample, to the story Nas is telling PUTS YOU THERE in the park.

NY State of Mind, The World Is Yours, It Ain't Hard To Tell, all classic tracks. Halftime was that joint you couldn't wait to bump in the car and turn the volume all the way up.
