this poll should have been limited to an 8,9 and 10 choice

Definetly classic, one of the best ever that's no doubt. Nas is unbelievable here, his flow, his lyrics...:O :O Preemo, Pete, Large Professor , Q-tip... on beats? Do you want more?!!!

    Peace

Yeh Illmatic is deffo one of the best CD's I've got in my Collection and every selfrespecting musicfan should have this CD in his collection. Altho there are only 10 tracks on this CD, every track is a classic.

    I'm gonna give this CD a 10/10

10/10- easily. Anyone who had this LP in '94 will give this a 10. Anything less than 9 is a crime. This is a REAL classic

Yea amazing album. One of the first albums that made me fall in love with hip hop. Illmatic is an amazing album to say the least. It set the bar insanely high for Nas. I like all his albums, but Illmatic is genius. The beats are from some of the best in the game and his lyrics are timeless on every song. One of my top ten albums of all time. I heard the album and havent heard another mc that can make album like that yet. Another high point in East coast rap, Nas is the King of New York. bow down. 10/10

Content, Flow, Imagery, Production ... all on point on this joint. IMO, Nas set the bar pretty high with this one. This is one of those rare joints that you can put in and play from start to end. Hip hop head will forever nod to it.

    Flawless!!

i have no problems admitting i gave it a 6... i don't dispute that the album (in terms of status) is a classic... but personally, an album with so few tracks should ensure that they are all bangers... i like the three premo beats, the pete rock one and the one for halftime... but the rest are boring and take too much away from nas' ability on the mic... on a good day, i'd give it a 7, but that's as high as i'm willing to go on this one...

now this is an OPINION, not a fact, so if you're going to cry about this, do it quietly...

LOL ... I feel you ins... no tears, but I do have some questions ... is it your opinion that "beats" are the only thing that constitute a great LP? What about the lyrical content, you know, the actual message? I know a great beat can make the head nod and actually set the stage for the lyrics, but "imo" the lyrics are what capture the heart and mind.

I'm not beefin' or disputin' ... I'm just curious.

    Peace
