Im gonna get a Xbox or PS2 either way again... I bought 6 games over the past 4 months... im not just gonna throw them out...
I dont want to wait a year before playing a videogame again...

I got a slim PS2 theyre alot better than the old ones much more reliable. I wouldnt put any console on a rug cause that would block the fan but Ive left myne on for days and everything was cool.

I don't think you people with the short lifespan PS2's are treating them properly, I've had mine since the Euro release (somewhat) and it runs as smooth as when i got it.

It could be an Xbox fanboy or sum shit...

But my first PS2 lasted a while. It started acting bitchy in like June. I got it from a friend last summer, and he got it around the time Xbox came out, so it lasted a good 3-4 years.

yeah my original ps2 died out on me..and a bunch of my friends had the same problem- couldnt read discs, disc read errors, could only read the blue bottom cd's, some could only read the black bottom cds and so on..

i got the new slim one and it seems to be workin aiight so far, i only had it bout 2 months now so i cant say much bout its lifespan, but so far so good..

My PS2 and X-Box (I must have gotten the PS2 about 3 years ago and the X-Box about 4 years ago) and they both still run smoothly and are in top shape. I only watch movies on my X-Box cause I keep hearing about that thing with the PS2 burning out fi you play DVDs in it.

My best friend is planning to buy the slim PS2 though, so I can't tell you right now if they're better.

The slim PS2's casing is designed to heat up as the console is smaller and hence cant get a huge fan inside it. The "brains" if ya wanna call them that, are located away from the outer casing so dont heat up. I've left mine on for over a week b4 and i aint got no problems with it. Why you would put it on a rug i dunno tho..........hope this helps man

my ps2 stopped wrkin properly and i thot it was nearly dead but then i just gt a small hoover n sucked out all the dust and it works like new now lol

I had da PS2 but da motor da spins the disk burnt out i was stuk without san andrea for almost a year, but then i got the PS2 slimline , i have had it longer than i had the old PS2 an it still works like clockwork. so i wud recomend gettin 1

and i play dvds on it all most every day

yea i had the same problem with my ps2.....they have like a 2 year life....i swear the sony company are some smart motherfuckers

it cant read hardly any of my games. even ones that i buy brand new

but i cant be fuked to buy a new playstation so i jus reset my playstation like 40 times until it reads the disk

both me and a buddy of mine bought our ps2 origanals round the same time and his started fuckin up last month, he can't play blue bottom discs or ps1 games n e more and his makes REALY fucked up noises constantly, and it's just gettin worse and worse 4 him, mine is startin 2 do the same thing now.......but i'm hopin it won't completely die until ps3 comes out
