Police weren't aware that Jonathan B. Gambino was carrying a loaded weapon between his legs Friday night when they arrested him for a burglary.
But Gambino wasn't very discreet when he un-holstered his equipment and started masturbating in the Evesham, Burlington County police department's interrogation room.
"He was yelling at us while he was doing it," said Evesham Lieutenant Walt Miller.
Police did not say whether Gambino managed to squeeze off a round.
Gambino's unmasterful stroke earned him a lewdness charge to go along with the burglary, theft and drug charges police picked him up on. Police allege the Evesham resident stole about $88,000 worth of electronics, jewelry, and other items from a home on Ferguson Court on July 11 by breaking into a basement window.
On Jan. 3, Evesham police charged Gambino with burglary in connection with an Aug. 14 break-in at a home on South Elmwood Road. Police claim he broke a window and allegedly stole jewelry. He was released on bail shortly afterward.
"He could be a suspect in a series of burglaries," Miller said.
On Friday, New Jersey State Police arrested Gambino for the July burglary and found he was in possession of un-prescribed Xanax. He was taken to the Burlington County Jail, where he's being held on $55,000 bail.

--Man seeks help at hospital for 'sick friend,' which turns out to be decomposing corpse
Emergency room workers summoned to help a sick woman instead found a decomposing body propped up in the front seat of a New Mexico man's car, authorities said.
Jerry Maestas, 64, walked into the ER at an Espanola hospital Tuesday afternoon to find help for his friend after parking his car outside, officials said.
When hospital workers approached the car, they could smell the 33-year-old woman before they saw her.
"They found some early stages of decomposition ... and also the smell they detected when they walked up to the vehicle," said Jeremy Apodaca, spokesman for the Espanola Police Department.
It was unclear what caused the woman's death, although police estimated she died anywhere from 24 to 36 hours before Maestas arrived at the hospital.
Police intend to charge the man with failure to report a death.

--Cheerleader Has To Pay $45,000 To The School That Kicked Her Off The Squad For Refusing To Cheer For Her Rapist
The Supreme Court this week refused to hear the case of a teenage girl who was kicked off her cheerleading team after refusing to cheer for the boy who sexually assaulted her.
As a result, she now owes the school $45,000 in legal fees.
The girl, known only as MS, accused a fellow student of raping her at a party. He plead guilty to a misdemeanor charge to avoid jail time and was allowed to return to school and the basketball team.
She continued to cheer for the team during games, but refused to shout the boy's name or clap for him when he shot free throws. When the superintendent discovered what she was doing, she was kicked off the team.
She sued the Texas school, arguing that her free speech rights had been violated, but two courts ruled that as a cheerleader she speaks for the school, not herself, and did not have the right to refuse.
A federal appeals court upheld the ruling and ordered her to pay court costs for filing a "frivolous" lawsuit.

Man dies in jump from world's tallest building
A man committed suicide Tuesday by jumping off the 147th floor of the world's tallest building, the Burj Khalifa in Dubai.
The man landed on a deck on the 108th floor of the 160-story structure, according to news reports from Dubai.
Dubai police confirmed the suicide, according to a report posted by The Gulf Today.
The man was described as an Asian in his mid-30s.
"The deceased works at one of the companies located at Burj Khalifa itself. We also came to know that the man decided to commit suicide as his company refused to grant leave," a police official told The Gulf Today.
The Burj Khalifa is 2,716.5 feet tall and is the tallest free-standing structure in the world. It officially opened in 2010.

SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico (AP) — A U.S. woman has disappeared while vacationing in Aruba, and authorities said Tuesday that police detained her travel partner because his statements about the incident had raised questions.
Robyn Gardner, 35, of Frederick, Maryland, vanished after snorkeling with her companion off the western tip of the Caribbean island Aug. 2, said Ann Angela, a spokeswoman for the prosecutor's office. She said police immediately launched an extensive search of the water and shore but turned up nothing and Gardner is still listed as missing.
As the official search ended Saturday, the man who accompanied Gardner to the island sought to fly back to the U.S. but he was detained at the airport.
"Statements made by the traveling companion led to such questions that on Friday, Aug. 5, 2011, it was decided to detain him for further questioning on the possible drowning of the woman," the prosecutor's office said in a statement.
Authorities referred to the man only by his initials, but his lawyer identified him as Gary V. Giordano, 50.
Island officials declined to say what precisely led them to stop Giordano or to provide many details about the case.
The newspaper Aruba Today said Giordano was detained because he bought a ticket to leave the island after earlier agreeing to stay and help the missing woman's mother search for her and to cooperate with the investigation into her disappearance.
Aruba has experience dealing with missing person cases following the still unsolved disappearance of Alabama teenager Natalee Holloway during a high school class trip to the island in 2005. Her remains were never found and the main suspect, Joran van der Sloot, is in jail in Peru on charges of killing a 21-year-old woman last May.
Giordano's Aruban lawyer, Michael Lopez, said his client was being unjustly held.
"Our client emphatically denies being involved in any malicious act concerning his friend and consequently does not consider himself a suspect," Lopez said in a written statement provided to The Associated Press.
The two Americans had been in Aruba a couple of days when they decided to go snorkeling in the area known as Baby Beach, Lopez said. He said the pair eventually realized they were being pulled out to sea by the current and Giordano tapped on Gardner's leg to signal that they should swim back. When he got to shore, he noticed she wasn't with him and ran to get help after looking for her unsuccessfully in the water, the lawyer said.
Lopez said that in the following days, Giordano assisted with the search and answered questions from police. He said his client waited until the woman's mother arrived before he decided he should return to the U.S. Giordano says he was given permission to leave by an official at the U.S. consulate on the nearby island of Curacao, the lawyer said.
The U.S. vice consul, Winnie Hofstetter, declined to comment on the case.
Lopez said that after being detained, Giordano initially declined to cooperate further with prosecutors and police because he felt he was being wrongly detained.
"As judicial representative of our client we can say that after reading and analyzing everything there is until now in his case file, there is no concrete or direct indication that our client might be involved in any illicit act concerning his friend," Lopez said.
Giordano is from Gaithersburg, Maryland. His lawyer said he runs an employment agency.
Gardner, a 5-foot-5-inch blonde with prominent tattoos on her arm, rib cage and right bicep, had worked in the past as a patient care coordinator at a dental office in Bethesda, Maryland, said Richard A. Forester, who said he was her boyfriend.
Forester said Gardner lived much of the time with him in Rockville, Maryland and had said that she and Giordano were platonic friends. The pair were scheduled to spend about five days in Aruba, Forester said.
"I'm starting to believe that's not true," Forester said in a phone interview. "I'm starting to believe there was some romantic thing."
Forester said he and Gardner had been in contact through Facebook until just before she disappeared. After she vanished, her Google Chat indicators showed she was active on Gmail, then on but not active, and finally off, he said. It seemed to indicate that she or someone else had been on her Gmail account, he said.
"I'm terrified as to what may have happened to her," he said. "I'm sad and scared that I might not see her again. I love her very much and all I am concerned about is that she gets home safely."

STONE LAKE, Wis. (AP) — Investigators believe a 67-year-old man concealed his mother's decomposing body at their home in rural northwestern Wisconsin for years so he could continue to receive her monthly social security checks.
Deputies went to the house in Washburn County in June after a postal worker contacted authorities because mail had not been collected. WQOW-TV (http://bit.ly/qnwecS ) reported Wednesday that they found Michael Egan's body on a bedroom floor. He had been dead for more than a week.
Cadaver dogs later found the remains of his mother, Elizabeth, on a couch under rags, sleeping bags and plastic.
"It appears Elizabeth had been deceased for quite some time and that her son, Michael Egan, was mixing a solution and then soaking the rags and putting the rags on top of the body," according to police records.
Bank officials told authorities that Elizabeth's monthly social security check was directly deposited in the bank for years, including one for $1,128 in June. Investigators believe that Michael Egan had been using her account for years.
Investigators said there was very little decay of the body because the towels had a solution on them that helped preserve it.
Authorities don't know how long Elizabeth Egan had been dead but say she was last seen in 2005 when she was 95 years old.
