well
to answer that question
one must look at how much the rza has changed since 1997
back then he was still deluded into thinking he could produce some album called 'the cure'
he has become too wise for that at this point
he has been humbled
in hindsight - no the threat wasnt really necessary
but
i can see where he was coming from
growing up with a steady diet of superheroes and villains
a person can easily be led to believe that he lives in a place where he can do something heroic and save people
once you have the power to do this - you see that it is not righteous

a threat suggests potential action.. a desire to hope.. is like a dream.

i think he was seriously being threatening in those days

i agree.. the idealogies of the 5% are definitely more appealing than just 2 talk about things that we are so familiar with..
