it's a street album more or less and or less there is more to a song than just the beats

How you figure a beat isn't as important as the lyrics on a song? There's a lot of good rappers but a lot of them suck at picking good beats and that's why i haven't liked a lot of rap albums the last 11 years.

A shitty beat ruins a song with good lyrics

A good beat can save a song with shitty lyrics

    100% correct.

Unless a track has unreal dope lyrics, then a track imo with a shitty beat isnt worth listenening to. If i want to hear some dope lyrics id read them rather then listen to them over a shitty beat.

Wheras i can enjoy a track with a dope beat even if it has shit lyrics.

It is a form of music after all.

Durag and 11th Chamber speaking the truth. That's why Canibus albums suck hahahahahahahahahahaha. Everybody knows he's a ill rapper but he's fucking terrible at picking good beats. The same goes for AZ, Nas, Ras Kass, Wu Tang, Keith Murray. I don't like a lot of their albums either because of shitty beats.

"the pillage" is the perfect example. its so highly regarded b/c of the soundscape. cappa was really sub-par lyrically on a handful of songs.... but the beats were so amazing.

LOL@the beats are amazing on Cappadonna's The Pillage album hahahahahahahahahaha. The beats are terrible on there and that's why i don't listen to his albums. The Pillage is the only album of his i've heard. I'm skeptical about checking his other albums. What a shame too because he's a good rapper. He blew me away with his lyrics on Ghostface's Winter Warz song.
