Default ego death vs being at peace

Just wondering whats everyone's opinion on enlightenment is?

Would you rather pursue the goal of ego death or would you accept the peace of being happy with the state your at and just try to do good even if your actions may be affected your ego "feeling good or bad"?

Read a trilogy of books by David Hawkins entitled; Power Vs. Force, The Eye of The I, and I: Reality and Subjectivity.

They are pretty much about how much the ego controls and how to use higher levels of conscious reasoning to counter it. I have for the most part and feel free about 90% of the time from it but sometimes it still comes around because of the society we live in.

This shit is pretty hard, although you do recognise the conflicts every day and tries to actively fight them!

Having a big ego has been a part of hip hop for a long time.

Personally, I think both ego death and peace of mind are both two sides of the same coin if you're talking about the road to enlightenment. Both are necessary steps. I couldn't have peace of mind, knowing what I'm capable of when I look at my ancestors and then not trying to pursue the same capabilities. But then, I can't reach those abilities until I kill my ego.

And when you kill your ego, what remains?

Too abstract, elaborate please. Unless you meant "being a psychological cripple".

    oneness (peace) -
the ego is basically something that declares "you are separate from all things (nature, universe, ect)"
    when this isn't essentially true
i like to imagine during a state of no ego one might experience the world around them as parts of their Self in the same way you are made up of cells...organs...limbs, ect (oneness)

    unlimited possibility -
if you are capable of removing your ego
you can place anything at will in it's place (i never said ego was bad) without having an attachment to it and while knowing that is not your true self
theoretically you should be able to manifest any personality trait at will

(the definitions of ego can differ quite a lot so i hope that made sense)
