I would like to say thanks and peace to chambermusik for their crazy fast delivery, I mean I live in Denmark and I got Streetlife and P-Sunn in the mail today! \/
So now I’ve heard all 3 albums, and I must say they are very different, but I already made up my mind about which of them I feel the most and that’s Streetlife, that’s just one fucking hot album!! love that shit...but I’ll do a short review of them all...
My #1 is Streetlife. Street is a vet and he sounds like he made 2 or 3 albums already. This is the feeling you get when you listen to his album, he has taken his time, written some dope lyrics and gotten some hot ass beats. I can surely say this album doesn't contain a wack track, a few average ones yes, but no wack ones. It's about time Street got some mic time, and he really does on this album, his guests either just drop a single verse, do a chorus, adlibs or sings. I can surely feel this is his album, and his direction. I don’t really know about the rating yet but it has to be high, around 9/10...
#2 Mathmatics. Mathematics has a good intention to put all of the wu on the album and he gets some of his crew on it for the rest of tracks, initially that’s a good idea. But ultimately it fails due to the lack skills from most his crew. I think eyeslow and buddha bless are pretty dope and ali vegas has a great verse...but the rest of them im not really feeling, bald head is the worst, damn he is terrible. Also all the reused verses from the wu are not a good look either (Ghost on strawberries, Ghost and Rae on real nillaz, odb on break dat, at least he cut Meths verse on spotlite), but the most disappointing thing about this album is actually maths beats, yeah I said it! a lot of pretty good beats, a couple of wack ones and only few real bangers! the beats I’m really feeling at this time is; Strawberries & Cream, Can I Rise, Winta Sno, Real Nillaz, Rush and Spot Lite...
The average ones is: C What I C, John 3:16, Bullet Scar, U.S.A. and Tommy.
The wack ones: Two Shots Of Henny, Coach Talk and Break That.
While this sounds harsh, it's only because Math used to be one of my favorite producers but on both his own albums he has disappointed, it's far from being weak, but I expect much more, maybe too much?? But in the end this is still a good album, better than most these days, like 7/10 or something. It’s just good to see the wu can still bring it together for an album.
#3 Is P-Sunn. Wow this is a weird album, it goes from absolute hotness like; Brutality, In My Life, Soul Survivor, Lovely Ladies and Puzzled...To crap like; Movin On Up, Betrayal, Manhunt, Godz People, Love Is Love and Sunshine...And a couple of in-betweeners; Procrastinators, Reach Out and Campaignin. This doesn't surprise me at all, I knew if anything would ruin this album it would be the beats, and unfortunately they did. RZA bring mad heat on "Brutality" and "Lovely Ladies", but P-Sunn lets this "B Original" guy handle almost half the producing, and he cannot handle that! He has a couple of hot tracks, "In My Life" and "Puzzled", but his beats just aint good enough for the most part... One thing is positive and that’s P-Sunn's lyrics, he really tries to rip these average beats, but while he does it on some tracks, in the end he is on a too hard task for any mc to conquer. A disappointing debut from a superb mc, but it's not all bad. A couple of crazy hot RZA tracks and some dope lyrics save the album from being wack, it’s a decent efford. I suggest you order it and make out your own opinion of it. 5/10
