I gotta get the Nas jawn next week, i just got a job so imma have to wait til next week.
Only a few years ago Hip Hop purists may have felt superior listening to hard core while their less enlightened companions snacked on commercial rap. As Shaolin research began to point out the overwhelming benefits of raw production, true hip hop enthusiasts started turning back to traditional styles. Wu-Tang in particular, has been shown to myriad beneficial effects, from warding off ignorance and poverty to reducing the risk of incarceration and death.

i agree with this, though i would rank "how i got over" above "distant relatives", though.

    1. Reflection Eternal - Revolutions Per Minute
    2. Roc Marciano - Marcberg
    3. The Roots - How I Got Over

I think I'll prefer How I Got Over over RPM and Marcberg in a few days, but it's a bit too early too say.. Nappy Roots - Pursuit of Nappyness might also deserve a spot over Roc and Reflection, but again, I'll see in a few days.. Nappy's isn't as cohesive as the other 3. PackFM's I Fucking Hate Rappers isn't very far behind either.

I'm expecting shaolin vs. wu-tang to drop this year. if it does, I'm sure it'll be one of the best. also, jus allah is expected to release an album this year too. so far, it's....

    1. Distant Relatives
    2. Vinnie Paz - Season Of The Assassin
    3. AOTP - The Unholy Terror

Not the best list but to be honest I've barely checked for anything this year. That's about all I've bothered checking out that's worth writing down.
