i hope the movie is shelved. the nationalistic propaganda stuff doesn't really fly in the 21st century.

The movie has been shelved but not because of china. It's because MGM who financed the film are going through a lot of financial difficulty and don't have the money for it's release and distribution. This also ties in to why the next James Bond film has been postponed and why Guillermo del toro dropped out of making the Hobbit.
