Thread: Nastradamus Isn't Whack

    Default Nastradamus Isn't Whack

Why do a lot of people hate on Nastradamus? Not just "Oh, it's just not as good as his other albums" but real hate. Like 1 star hate.

I think it's an awesome album. Sure you got bull in Nastradamus (the song) and Big Girl might be a whack song too, but it's better than an album of Oochie-esque songs. He's got some pretty good tracks on there.

    Come Get Me (Premo's production)
Shoot 'Em Up (just catchy, and unique in a way)
Family (Prodigy and Nas kill it and Havoc sounds dope in the chorus. Beat is awesome too.)
God Love Us (Just a good song)
Quiet Niggas (catchy hook, and the piano sounds dope)
    New World (Africa sample lol)

    Thoughts?

Nastradamus dropped twenty five years ago today. Most definitely Nas' most polarizing work to date.. I will say that it has aged better over time, kind of like Wu Tang Clan's W He would have been better off leaving it as is after it was bootlegged Poor single choices are what screwed up this album in my opinion Title track and You Owe Me featuring Ginuwine probably turned people off from the album All Dame Grease tracks are single material

Shit was wack compared to earlier work. Very commercial stuff on there, and a few things that were nice. I have to give you that. Biggest crime was the bootlegging. I Am was supposed to be a double. The double that got released last year is not up to par with what people had floating around based upon the songs that were out there. I Am ... Nastradamus (The Death of Escobar) is still a good idea.

I have always wondered who Lake and that other guy were talking about in that skit right after Last Words where they are flipping through the pages of a hip hop magazine and they said one person representing Queensbridge is a snitch and another one is a ex crack head turned pro black.. I have heard supposedly they are Capone and Intelligent Hoodlum/Tragedy Khadafi

People were expecting Illmatic part two at that point. There are some notably tracks on there, would not consider that one to whack by a long shot.

The tracks that were recorded for I Am double album WERE on par with Illmatic. Not sure how many made it to the retail I Am (which was okay), but all the mp3 downloading sites in Summer/Fall '99 had the Nastradamus album with this tracklist

    Blaze A 50
    Amongst Kings
    Drunk By Myself
    Gotta Love It
    Find Ya Wealth
    Poppa Was A Playa
    Sometimes I Wonder
    Wanna Play Rough
Hardest Thing to Do Is Stay Alive
    Fetus
    Project Windows
    Daydreamin Stay Schemin

After bumping these tracks for months and then hearing what the retail Nastradamus was like.....NAH
Album was garabage outside of a handful of tracks

Here, I'm handing out late passes

Put it in the right order and you have Nas as Escobar getting fucked up, killing his partner and committing suicide, getting before god, being born, thus coming back as nastradamus

    I agree its not wack

it has wack shit on it tho. And the most of any nas album att

but yea hapf of it is great-good, haof mediocre/bad.

i am was better but had similar mediocrity just nothing as bad as some of the nastradamus stuff. The best stuff from nastradamus comes from i am anyway.
