You're muddling Ergheiz and Tobal up. Tobal did have the first demo of FFVII included with it though.
Tobal and Tobal 2 were much better than Ehrgeiz, but Ehrgeiz was still pretty good.

Who played this game?
It was an arcade game, you could play as Cyclops, Wolverine, Nightcrawler, & Colossus.
another Arcade favorite:
came out for Sega, too:
Don't know how famous this game got.
Altered Beast !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Always reminds me of that 4-Ize rhyme :
"I Rock Shacks Down When I Altered Beast...
Power-Up Get Big Just Disturbing The Peace"
"Rise from your Grave" that line I've got to sample for a song.
here's another one, Evander Holyfield's "Real Deal" Boxing:
I remember playing this alot, I would beat up everyone until I got to fighting Evander himself, He would kick my ass so fast, but I got close sometimes with a dude named Michael Lamb. Don't know why I remember that name. Funny thing, just like when I play Madden now, right when the CPU is about to win, it resets for some odd reason. Like yesterday I'm playing Madden 08 and I'm losing to the Patriots, and right before the final whistle it resets, thus maintaining my win streak. Don't know why it does this, anyone have the same problem?
Everyone and their brother remembers x-men arcade, that was the shit. Scrolling beat em ups was my fave genre during the 16 bit era, in fact I spend more time playing these retro games on my ps2 than I do new games.
Altered Beast on the megadrive was fucking crap, one of the worst games around. I remember it being packaged with the console in the earlier days by I got the one packaged with Sonic......good times.

When I got my first console the Sega Master system it came with Altered Beast and we got Wonderboy In Monster Land at the same time. Altered beast was fun for about 20 minutes, but I can still play Wonderboy II to this day. Fuckin classic.
As for scrolling beat em ups Tauro, I played through to the end of Sengoku 3 and Armored Warriors with a mate the other day. Armored Warriors is another classic. you could pick up the arm of a defeated opponent and swap it for yours. They included giant drills, cannons, grabbing arms...

Road Rash 2 was when it was at it's best. I wish they would update it, and I mean a proper update not like that weak ass 3d version. It would hold up well today I think.

Only problem I guess is where do you take it? It's a pretty limited concept. There's only so much attack wise someone can do while sitting on a bike. They tried to branch out a bit when they made Skitchin, but that was an average game at best.
I think everyone's being a bit hard on the 3D versions. I can only really speak for Road Rash 64, but it was alright, not terrible.

It doesn't have to be a deep game, just an arcade like experience, like Sega Rally or something.

Yeah I'm just thinking what would you update other than graphics? It's the kind of game that going back I found only really kept my interest for about half an hour. I guess they'd have to really get the racing side spot on, so that it could stand up as a racer even without the fighting type elements.
