The Zu History...brought to you by The ZooKeeper
Brooklyn Zoo is a not just a rap group, we have a deep history of culture, knowledge wisdom and understanding of the way of life. We spread this message through our music. Our roots run deep, our strong foundation allows us to see, prepare and create the future, of not just music but of culture itself. Contrary to historical belief, the Shinnecocks Indians are not extinct. Our family's legacy did not die along with our great great grandfather Wickham Cuffie who was reported to be the last "pure-breed" Shinnecock Indian at his death in 1915. The Shinnecock blood runs deep through the veins of all his children, grandchildren and extended family. It is this purity that often intimidates others, but we use this power to anoint others with knowledge, we always stay on humble grounds. Yet still we are the first New Yorkers and we maintain this humbleness from staying righteous.
We were taught from when we were very young from our uncle freedom Allah, known around the world as Poppa Wu. It wasn't until Prince Rakeem and the Genius came out with their first singles, "come do me baby," and "we love you Rakeem," and we can't forget Unique Ason the beat box specialist, together they formed the "All in Together Now Crew", in which we became creative with our words, our way of rhyming and creating lyrics and our own individual styles. Yet we were still far away from being good entertainers. And that was when Prince Rakeem changed his name to Rza and formed the group the Wu Tang Clan. Soon after that the world recognized Ol' Dirty Bastard as being one of the best members in the Wu Tang Clan and he got his first solo album deal. This is where we come in at. This is the zookeeper telling the story, Im remembering when dirty was putting together one of his songs in his apartment on Lenox and 132nd street, me, 12 and Dirty sat down on his couch watching Martin Lawrence, "You so Crazy," when I said it is time for us to come out with our group, and I told dirty we should call the group Ol' Dirty Bastard Brooklyn zu. That's how Brooklyn Zu came about, "Protect your Neck part 2", one of the hottest songs on his first album.
Let me go deeper into each individual that forms the Brooklyn Zu. First, 12 oclock is my oldest brother, Shorty Shit Stain is my youngest brother, Murdock is my first cousin and Buddha Monk was a friend of the family since we were very young. I will not go into very deep into how everyone got there name because they can tell you that on their own, but I can tell you how I got my name. I was always the protector and guardian of my family so I gave myself the name the Zookeeper and Dirty tried to take my name, but I was like how you gonna be both the Ol' Dirty Bastard and the Zookeeper? Just thinking back on that shit makes me laugh... There's a lot of history with Brooklyn Zu and Wu Tang that people don't know. Dirty, Rza and Genius are my older cousins, but we don't say cousins, keeping with our Indian culture we say brothers because they are my big brothers. They were the founders of Wu Tang. Brooklyn zu was the first killer bees of that clan. We never got a chance to spread our wings ... Until now! We have to keep my big brother, Ol' Dirty Bastard's legacy alive. You can feel his energy in each of our songs and we dedicate our album to him, our great, great grandfather and all our ancestors. So peace to the world, I look forward to seeing, teaching and talking to everyone and I am positive, no, I bet my life on it that you are going to love our album

I think King Just and Holocaust have some Indian blood as well.
But what about Timbo King? Is he from the other side of RZAs family? And Flava Flav?
Peace.
oh god
If you're family has lived in the united states for several generations you have three things no matter what anyone tries to spin:
1>Native American/First Nation
2>European
3>African
Look that shit up!
I am fortunate enough to be able to trace lineage to all three, but most people either have no idea due to a broken link or purposeful removal of said bloodlines.
I recognize Chippewa ancestery. and peace to the Native Nation.
