Default If it was for the east coast there would be no golden era of rap !!!!!

Really when people talk about the golden era they should talk about the n.y golden era...if it wasn`t for n.y.c there would not be a golden era of rap..new york singled handedly gave rap the best years of its life, when the resurgance of east coast rap ushered in the golden era of hip hop, which was spear headed but such acts as nas, wu tang clan, redman, and mobb deep..yeah sure dre and snoop and pac where doing there thing but aint nobody care about that g funk shit or cypress hill for that matter...the east was where its at and still is....So when people talk about the golden era of rap they should just say the golden era of the east coast.

This is the truth peace be with you !

well when people talk about the golden era they ARE talking about New York, at least 90% of the time although Dre and Death Row had a great run in the West too.

I'd say the golden era was 96-2000, hip hop was at it's commercial and critical peak.

But yeah I'm 15 so my opinion is automatically invalid.

    '86 - '90 it was East Coast 100%.

'90 - '96 is where both collided well. A lot of great albums from the West Coast came out duting these years, but overall, the East wins.
