compare that to pure violence which is what you described as worse.
most slaves stayed in line for survival, so of course they weren't murdered. but let one say "enuff is enuff" or try to leave... then see how good he had it. plus all the trauma was done to new arrivals when they hit shore, actually the middle passage was a trial by fire in itself.

Slaves in the 1800's were not lynched at the rates, and black hatred was not as high and fierce as it was during reconstruction.
So in that respect, we could both make an arguement, but its stupid and its petty.
