The truth is usually seen and rarely heard.
How would that happen?
Once upon time there existed a remote village about a fortnights journey on foot to the closest "civilized" town. The people in the village had hardly any contact with the outside world except for the occasional dedicated hiker. One day 2 hikers passed through the town and the villagers over heard them talking about something called a train.
The villagers were so curious that they called for a town meeting and decided they would send three of the wisest villagers on the long journey to the town to find out exactly what this train was.
The 3 villagers arrived at the town 2 weeks later and with some help from the locals made their way to the train station. There they stood and waited for the next train to arrive.
After a little while a chugging noise was heard and as the train came round the bend one of the three villagers pointed to the trains light off in the distance and asked a local near by "Is that the train?"
The Local replied "Yes, it is."
Satisfied the villager headed off back to his village to tell the others what he had seen so that they all might know what a train was.
Meanwhile, the train pulled up at the platform with its many carriages. The 2nd villager also asked a local "Is that the train?"
"It certainly is" came the reply.
The 2nd villager deciding that he had a complete picture of what a train was also set of back to the village to tell the people.
The 3rd villager however decided to stay. He climbed aboard the train, looked around and took in all he could. The sounds, the smells. He even asked the driver how it worked.
Having experienced every facet of the train he stood there for a second a said to himself "So, this is a train."
He then set of back to the village to tell the others.
All three of the villagers saw the train, yet each returned with a different description than the other.
None of the villagers were wrong in their description, but one had a more complete understanding.
Times have changed, times will continue to change. Shouldn't it be that our understanding of God will change as well.
Maybe the original message needs updating.
