People WAY overestimate the power of the President of the United States. What a President wants to do and what he can actually do are two VERY different things. While our government representatives are more concerned with making the other party look bad, and their ideas look bad than making the right decisions for the right reasons, the President's hands are often tied even if he wants/tries to do something good for the people. Then, whoever is President gets blamed for things that he often has little or no control over. Many times, the President is blamed for a problem that has been brewing for years before they even took office.
Bottom line is that our whole political system is corrupted. A complete joke. Most people are clueless to the fact that political parties and individual politicians are only a symptom of the real problem. They think some guy/woman is going to just fix everything when he/she has no chance to do so even in the unlikely event that they really want to.

I Know what you're implying but I'm going to say it regardless.
Naturally democratically elected leaders are puppets by definition, the voters elect a leader meaning he is the puppet of the voters.
I don't believe any one group is smart enough to construct such an elaborate conspiracy, it's all one big clusterfuck.

There is no illuminati. Those with wealth and influence make things happen. You know why? Because they don't cut hair, bus tables or make table legs for a living. If that's a problem, instead of sitting in a park square, like a bunch of douche bags, with "99%" signs, try forming a lobby and heading up an actual movement. Instead of just sitting on your asses. You don't like the bias in the media? Start a radio station, website, news letter etc
