Miata Phelan will be spending a considerable amount of time contemplating the value of gifts in the future.
Phelan, who turned 24 on May 1, stands accused of stabbing her boyfriend, 28-year-old Larry Martin after a trip to the mall. According to reports, Phelan, who is also visibly pregnant with Martin’s child, was returning home from the shopping center with Martin, his 8-year-old son, and a 25 year-old cousin. She allegedly accused Martin of being selfish, buying gifts for his son and cousin, but not her.
According to the state attorney general, Phelan struck Martin while he was driving and nearly caused an accident. When the group stopped at Martin’s mother’s house to drop off something for his brother, she assaulted him again, finally driving off alone in his car. The three walked back to the apartment Martin and Phelan shared, but when they got there, she arrived at almost the same time and managed to lock them outside. Martin banged on the door until Phelan let him in. Within moments, she was allegedly on him with a knife and stabbed him.
The cousin heard Martin’s scream, and ran to render assistance. He got Martin out onto the sidewalk, where the man collapsed. Phelan allegedly screamed at Martin, “This is what you get for messing with me. I hope you die mother f–—.”
Bail was set at $1 million, and Phelan remains behind bars at this time.
