I gotta check out that Vanilla Ice goes Amish show, I have always been fascinated with the Amish, did a lot of reading up on them last year

what's so interesting about the Amish to me is they find ways around not being 'allowed' to use modern technology. actually, it's more intricate, they are open to new technology, use it, but when they spot too many disadvantages to it (in keeping with the values of their religion) they either don't use it or use it via others ('renting' as opposed to owning)

what rekindled my interest in the Amish a few years ago was this big rape scandal which was brought to light, I read about it extensively back then, appalling to see how it was handled by the Amish community really

check, you're from PA, do you actually ever get in touch with the Amish? it would surprise me but you never know I guess. I don't know whether you live in a city or what would be considered the country side lol

what's also very interesting is their language, which you've referred to before. as I speak German I've always had an interest in that as well
