Yeah, this is the thing. It's just that guys interpretation. The whole bible is made up of interpretations. As Lord Nose said a few pages ago, this book and its morals and values shapes pretty much the entire western world...and there's hardly anything definitive.
The whole "god choose not to use his powers" thing is convenient. If you knew everything how can you make yourself not know anything? If you can see in the future can you choose not to?
How can he remain unbiased if he made such rules and punishment?
It's just convenient, a way to fill in the plot holes of the book. But god knows all he just chooses not to, easy fix.
