Yeah, those weren't regular immigrants who wanted to make a better life for their families. They were mostly displaced people with nowhere to go. I don't know what would have been a good solution, but you don't need to be Nostradamus to guess that a bunch of sandy cult members who are only educated in a dated work of fiction are probably not going to be a great addition to the western world.
There is no apparent solution that I can see that isn't fraught with other potential problems. At the same time, I really do believe that people with radical, groundless belief systems like Islam, liberal humanism, nationalism etc are now on the wrong side of history, and they aren't going to be particularly influential after 15 years or so.
