changing my vote to clapton, layla is goat
I've been listening to Joe bonamassa a lot lately n he's drf moved into my top 20. I'd remove either Hendrix or Page to make space for him. Prob slightly prefer Page over Hendrix.
Duane allman wrote the famous layla riff tho. He raped that whole album. As did Clapton. It's probably the best collaboration of 2 guitarists in music history. Their chemistry was amazing. Such a fucked up shame that Duane died like a year later tho. I'm certain those 2 cunts would have done plenty more recordings together.
I doubt most casual listeners even realize that half the guitar work on that album is Allman. I prefer Clapton all in all, but tbh I think Allman was probably the star of that album if I had to choose.
I've always had an enormous amount of respect for Clapton even in his heroin junkie stage to have brought Duane Allman on board for that album n let him rip the fuck out of it for his sheer love of music n appreciation of epic guitar playing.
A lot of guitar heroes would never let that happen.
