I saw a trailer for this and every character in a row was screaming.

Finally watched this. I thought it was just okay. His first 2 movies are so smart and interesting and this one just isn't.

I know that a lot was cut out of the film because its a big budget studio picture so maybe a directors cut would help.

Also yikes at Nicole Kidman. Her Halloween Mask/Bo Selecta/MJ face took me out of every scene.

yeah man a directors cut would def be interesting.

but a lot of the interviews i read, Eggers seemed genuinely happy with the finished product and the cuts that were made to make all sides happy.

to me, that doesnt sound good at all.

honestly idk if there is much to be saved at all about this film. the story is rather boring tbh, even adding another hour or whatever.

i think Valhalla Rising is a much better viking epic than this.

and here lies another issue, his first two films were rather short. an hour and a half and an hour and 40 minutes... not everyone can do longer films but alas honestly this wasnt the type of Eggers film his fan base knows him for to begin with.

and man, Nicole Kidman is usually fucking stunning in all of her roles but fuck, she wasnt attractive in this at all.

i cant believe some of the rave reviews i have read about this.
