I read all your posts, and I'm in no means a fan of Puffy, but commerical rap was out way before Diddy. Commercial always outsold underground shit just take a look at Will Smith in the '80s he outsold Rakim, EPMD, and Public Enemy. The white rappers got all the attention from MTV and the masses, Beaste Boys so you cant so Puff. If anything he gave the illest nigga to ever do it, Big, and he sign the Lox. To me the worst thing in Hip hop was the East v. West bullshit and the only reason I say that is because we lost Biggie from it. Big L, was coming up, Pun was opening doors to new niggas, but their dealth didnt change the musical landscape like Big's passing. Also, the commeralization of my culture, and the rise of the wack Southern & midwest aided in the collapes of Rap. HipHop is a culture, a lifestyle, rap is the sound of the culture.

Even though i don't think they were the greatest rappers ever, its the murders of Tupac and Biggie. They were the most popular in rap, but they were still quality rappers, so mainstream rap was good.

The worst thing to happen in hiphop was when money became the new found love, when it became universal and when it became commerical. but not commerical as yall know it with the nelly and chingy more like, with the chinese hiphop and the french hiphop. Sure, commercial rap did exist before PUFFY...........but PUFFY made it acceptable or "cool" to sell out.......he introduced the million dollar videos, the dancing girls, and popularised the Materialistic asspect of hip hop.........he took hip hop from being the voice of the ghetto and made it about a rich million dollar lifestyle......today when you watch rap videos....they are all off shoots of what PUFFY did, rich cristal sipping, bling bling shit............in the ghetto it aint really like that.......puffy turned hip hop into this fantasy

Another point is, people are represented by the majority (George Bush is the president of the U.S.A.) most people arent good, most people arent smart. So you get the majority of people are bad and dumb. So the music that sells the majority of records is bad and dumb music. And in the end some bad/smart people decided to make money off of dumbasses, hence we have rap jingles/hip hopification of America.

But if you are good and smart you know what to listen to and what to reject.
