As for myself: I had come to the conclusion that there was nothing sacred about myself or any human being, that we were all machines, doomed to collide and collide and collide.

Only a few years ago Hip Hop purists may have felt superior listening to hard core while their less enlightened companions snacked on commercial rap. As Shaolin research began to point out the overwhelming benefits of raw production, true hip hop enthusiasts started turning back to traditional styles. Wu-Tang in particular, has been shown to myriad beneficial effects, from warding off ignorance and poverty to reducing the risk of incarceration and death.
My Favs On This Joint Were:
97 Mentality
Cobra Clutch
Punishment
Fatal Sting
Bronx War Stories

am i the only 1 who thinks shoot on sight SOS is the absolute shit, when i 1st heard it i had to play it back like 10 times street and deck are fucking sick
oh yeah and 97 mentality is in my top 10....of favorite wu songs....ever
Word, SOS is my favorite track on the album. I really like this album, it´s grimey as hell.
I remember when I first got it (this was actually my first wu-related album btw), I couldn´t really get into it. I was also pretty new to hiphop at that point. I felt it was too dirty sounding, it felt amateurish and not catchy, lol! (yeah, I know). Now, I love it for all those reasons. It certainly has to grow on you, but to a lesser extent when you´re used to this type of hiphop.
I wouldn´t rate it a classic, as so many on this site does. It´s a great album. But alot of the lyrics don´t have enough depth to qualify as classic material.
I also don´t think that alot of the killa bees are talented enough. Not that they´re bad, but compared to the generals, they´re nothing specials.
I´ll rate this album 9/10, and a lot of that goes to the beats alone. To me the best tracks are the ones with the core members on them. I love the sound of the album, it has that pure wu-tang vibe that I love, so fucking grimey.
Classic..
