It always seems to begin with a very simple and innocent bait that is either a compliment or a criticism but once hooked the time parasite will always have the upper hand because win or loose in the popularity contest the time parasite will always come out a self winner because he she or she has succeeded with their original agenda in and that is to rob the individual participants of their time.

Only when you refuse to continue to respond to the time parasites enticing bait will you become truly free from such pointless nonsense. It is always tempting to continue to respond as a mater of pride or redemption but in the end the longer you continue to respond to the "time parasite" the more time you waste and the more control he or she exerts over you. Eventually you must let water seek its own level focusing on how to better invest your personal time rather then allow others to waste it.

If by chance people judge you exclusively on the weight of one argument rather then all your writing and actions as a whole then you will have learned a very important lesson concerning the company you keep be it in cyber space or in the flesh."

It's true alright. Although he could've added that some people get "caught up" in real internet drama or some people go to certain message boards for entertainment purposes. (Meaning people that may know each other in real life, bring real issues and dirt to the board for "clowning" purposes.)

There is some truth to that.

It's more like people want to TRY and debate when there is really nothing to debate. There are very few topics here especially KTL that are set up to be strictly "debated". It happens when someone makes an opinion and another challenges it and no one wants to back down when things heat up rather than just all parties trying to make a general conclusion about that thread topic. They must have their way and its the right way...the truth (not mocking this thread). Then the cycle of childish insults get in the way of the thread, etc.

But I guess making a metaphoric parasite is a pretty good analogy. Some people do waste too much time doing that but perhaps they have the time and want to, hence they have to feed the parasite.

If you are referring to the parasite as another person altogether, they are called forum trolls. They make topics not to start conversation or ask a question but to spark an outrage of flames by the board based on an unpopular opinion.

I agree 100% and this guy is smart. I always thought that when you're on the internet and you connect to somebody, not only do you connect to their CPU but you connect directly in to their head. You can tell a lot about people online weather you believe it or not. Through their lies and falsehoods or their truths. I plan on writing an article about it sometime in the near future.

And no, the guy is not saying don't argue and to not communicate he's just saying USE YOUR HEAD. Don't be a "time parasite" be a "consumer" and consume something with your free time rather dick around in chat rooms, porno and lalalala. WuCorp ain't dicking around though, it's a forum where you respond and reply to criticism and ongoings in the world. You can learn from it, have fun with it, without using up all your free time. Though some of us have nothing BUT free time, in the future we won't and we have to focus on keeping our free time positive and not negative.
