They're pretty lame and don't age well. Their gimmick (we're so kArAzy) is pretty stupid too because there's literally a minimal amount of consequence for white ppl anyways. I couldn't imagine the boundary '3 white guys that drink beer and make sophomoric jokes in the late 80s' was actually pushing, but they sure thought they were doing something. it's like when CEOs think they're edgy because they go to the office with flip flops. That's what they are on a conceptual level.
I do wish someone else was given a lot of their beats cause they were wasted. Paul Revere being one.
They don't age well as in one of them is dead already?
RIP Adam Yauch
former babyface Mike D admittedly looks like he's 80 now
I've always enjoyed Beastie Boys. Some of their hardcore/punk songs too. Their music was just about having fun, like with a lot of old skool acts. I like how they kept that vibe going for years and remained successful. Also cool how they made good use of samples AND how they were able to pull off a great in studio live sound with artists like Bobo pn some releases.
I love their instrumental tracks and EPs too. Some of the songs on there have a great melancholy sound (like 'Eugene's Lament' just to name one)
All things considered they were definitely more than a one note act to me.
here's my favorite Beastie Boys instrumental

What you're describing is just their first album. I mean I think Licensed To Ill is a pretty fun old school record, and original for it's time but it's also not the whole story.
They shed the fratboy humor after that record and made some actual genre expanding records like Paul's Boutique, one of the first sample collage records, then in the 90s they created a hybrid of Soul-Jazz, Punk and Old School Hip Hop. Honestly one of the more interesting Hip Hop groups that's been around, even though they weren't the greatest rappers of all time.
Fun fact: Paul Revere (& Slow & Low) were co-written by Run DMC.
Also here's a remix I put together recently of Beasties:
Hating on BB just makes u look stupid

Beastie Boys were huge Venom fans, with a shout out to them on the track Dedication
This was my fav. Cant hate on these guys. Truly had some all time tracks.
Beastie Boys are legends, thread starter likes boys, to put it mildly.
