    Default Record Store Day 2016

Today is the worldwide annual Record Store Day. Remember to support your favorite local record store.
I will be supporting the world famous Moodie's Records here in the Northeast Bronx. Does any still have any independent mom and pop record stores in their neighborhood?

There's one record store here left in Maryland and it's called The Wiz but it's not a mom and pop record store. It's across the street from Iverson mall and I'm gonna go there in the spring of next year when I get my income tax check. I know that's a long time I gotta wait but I gotta get a couple of things fixed on my car and I owe my dad $500 for car repairs because he loaned me money. I don't go to that record store often because their music cd prices are expensive and they sell movies that are expensive. I do like a lot of the old rap and old r&b cd's they have but I buy most of my music cd's and movies from Amazon.com because their prices are cheap.

my local record stores get so busy on record store day its not even worth going...like you basically cant even get in, much less try to browse if you make it inside
slightly kinda off topic but we just had national free comic book day the other week too, and people were lined up around the block downtown

shit, vinyl is more popular now than ever. even all the barnes n noble book stores near me sell records now, and the FYE in the mall. I've never seen records be more accessible.

I live in Grand Rapids MI though
the most popular store downtown usually has kegs of beer and live music for record store day

No I didn't know that. It's stupid to buy records and not have a record player LOL.

they frame the covers? looks cool but yeah kinda besides the point

tbh I never really fucked with a record player like that. I'm one of them accident prone type people, CDs & mp3s are a safer option with me

don't make me list all the computers I managed to fuck up either lmao

back on topic it seems that even though the number of wrecka stores has decreased here as well doesn't seem to be as dramatic as in the US

malls offer both CDs and vinyl (vinyl market is increasing here as well). shops that specialize in one genre (we still have those!) mostly either have vinyl (EDM, hiphop) or CDs (metal)

There aren't any record stores anymore where I live. The choices I have are Best Buy and the Internet.

I'm guilty of this, I collect vinyl and a lot of it still has the plastic on it. I do own a record player though but rarely play the vinyl.

My mom has a record player and it's nice because it also has a cd player. I was listening to some old albums today at home.

used this list to dig up some music from names that were previously unknown to me. thanks

talking about The Whispers, Dazz Band, The Deele & Midnight Star

finally got around to DLing some Frankie Beverly & Maze too. I'd heard of them, but hadn't actually heard them

CJ I also came across a group called The Escorts. I had to DL their greatest hits just cuz of their group name lel. are they any good? I listened to one song and they sounded like a cheesy lounge version of The Dramatics (there were a lot of strings on the track)

I've never heard of the Escorts LOL. Have you heard of The Floaters? They did a song called Float On which is a classic. Rapper Willie D sampled it on Throat song which talks about black women sucking black men's dicks hahahahahahahahahahaha. Rap group College Boyz also sampled Float On on No Sets No Drama No Stress. Float On kinda sounds like Delegation's Oh Honey song which rap group Geto Boys sampled on Quickie song. Quickie is funny and Scarface talks about having sex with a black woman even though he has a girlfriend hahahahahahahahahahaha. Rap group Poison Clan also sampled Oh Honey on Ho Stories 2 song. LOL@song title and I like JT Money who was in Poison Clan. Lee, have you heard of The Intruders? They did a classic song called Cowboys To Girls and it's on the Dead Presidents soundtrack I got. Dead Presidents movie is with Larenz Tate, Chris Tucker, Bokeem Woodbine, Keith David, Clifton Powell, Terrence Howard who's from my hometown Cleveland, Ohio and N'Bushe Wright.
